Yeah, it isn't the best market but my dilemma was holding onto him going into next year in the last year of his contract where people become even more hesitant to give up a lot. Then at that point I'm forced to probably let him walk and pay him a ton of cash that handcuffs the rest of the team so I'm not good enough to be a legitimate threat but not bad enough to get a good lotto pick.
I'm personally hesitant to go for lots of draft picks since when I've done that the picks ever seem to turn out well for me. At least this way I get two players that while they may not develop into stars but at least solid starters to build with.

Ratings wise Okafor hasnt improved a lot, but stats wise he has. In his first year he was an option all year and not producing double digits in points. This year, he wasnt an option up until last sim when Rose was hurt and hes putting up a double double.

Def a steal for the Knicks...It may not reap benefits this year, because they have no rebounding at all atm, but Tmac is still young enough so he can build around him and the other two stars.
Spurs? The market may be weak, but not to get one LEGITIMATE piece or a lotto pick is awful IMO. Okafor may become relevant down the road, but thats not certain. I would have easily offered Jrich/Knicks 1st plus other stuff for Tmac, and in my mind thats a better offer then this. Only downside is that Jrich is expiring, but still, better then this.

Bynum-Okafor-Bibby thats a solid three to build from. + Lotto pick. + Cap space, this looks like it can be a nice FA.
Ive seen Rmanske pull of miracles before.

Perhaps, but is it really? J-Rich is a nice player but let's say hypothetically he walks. Then I'm left with a lotto pick of some kind. Lotto picks are nice but if the draft file is not up I can look at names but no ratings. I guess I could just assume that they are going to have good ratings but how do I know that? At the end of this season I have one big contract in Bibby, Okafor and West with two more years on a rookie deal, Bynum with three years, a likely lotto draft pick rookie, and cap space in what could turn into a nice FA class. Whether or not this deal works won't be known for a while so let's see how it all plays out.

I agree with Shawn. I offered for TMac, but I knew I just don't possess the assets to appeal to a rebuilding team. As far as the deal, without camps, I don't really see either player getting much better than they are now, and they certainly won't be anywhere near TMac's level. That said, I think we have seen the market just is not that strong for star players, for whatever reason.

Who are the buyers right now? Most of the elite teams around the league have used up their assets already. I offered for T-Mac in the beginning of the season, I thought it was better than this deal but if would have left the Spurs in the middle of the pack type of team really. Lakers, Blazers, Raptors, Celtics etc have used up a lot to assemble their teams.
After that we have a bunch of teams that it simply don't make sense to make a move for someone like McGrady. It really is just a down market right now filled with overpaid players and teams who can only offer late first round picks and cash really.

Then wait for the market to be back up again, Tmax is worth the patience.

Eh I agree since it is McGrady, but I'm just happy he is out of the West now.

I offered Zimmerman, Mourning, and Future firsts for TMac. For some reason, I could picture what he'd look like in a Magic uniform...

Shitttt....I wasn't interesting in him this season, but would have definitely moved Aldridge + picks next season. Oh well though, Okafor could become good.

curious to see what you guys think about the brand/bosh trade that went down.

I dunno what to think tbh. Bosh hasn't shown anything yet Brand hasn't shown he can be the man on a playoff team so it's the battle of the "underwhelmings"? I will say tho, on paper the Rockets look REALLY nice now.
All-in-all, you got fair value for Brand and buff didn't necessarily overpay or anything. Textbook good deal.

i don't think Bosh will ever be a star, but I'm sure he'll be a pretty good starter. the picks you got aren't going to be special and JR Smith has long ways to go. I don't think you can dleague him either because he was selected in the lotto. I think you could of gotten better iMO.

Hate to "pick on the new guy", but that Pietrus/Butler deal is pretty bad for Atlanta. Honestly, I'd want Pietrus over Butler head-to-head. Mediocre player with severely inflated numbers due to his bottom of the barrel team with a huge contract for a guy of his talents.

Get expirings and essentially suck next year, it's a simple plan really. Don't agree with giving away a pick, but I don't have a big problem with it. He is going to get something for Nash and he will be left with Butler and Miller. Someone will trade for Miller and he will be left with Butler who will put up 20 on a crappy team and someone will trade for him.

Nash back in Dallas. O.o
A bunch of more depth comes in as well with Rickey and Fortson.

It makes your team better for sure, but I don't think this is the time to be going all in.

I agree with MP. I think the team you got after this deal is a borderline #8 out West, tops.
