I would welcome that. I was opposed to kicking in any type of pick. And yeah, generally when it says "random thought", it's not a genuine rumor with steam

So what is with the Blazers fans and front office's love for Batum? I just don't see what's so special about the guy. Deng fuckin' DESTROYED him earlier in the season (40 pts on 14-19 from the field).
Someone enlighten me because I spent some time with a few Blazers nuts the other night and they were suckin' the guy off or something

But Batum has been "raw" for a few seasons now. I agree, what gives?

I was high on Batum in his first year, but he really hasnt done anything to make anyone think hes going to become the next Bruce Bowen/Ron Artest shutdown player he was touted as

Mauer should be suspended for this. I've been a fan of the sport for 25 years and I've NEVER seen someone go THAT technical crazy. Reminds me of Billy Crystal's character in "Forget Paris"...
Go to about 3:15 on that 2nd clip. Kinda funny that it includes Rambis and Laimbeer there too.

yeah these refs in the nba have more control over the game then any other sport i think. who knows what goes through their mind when they do crazy shit like this. prolly something similar to the ref in the 2nd clip lol.

LOL "That's it! Technical for LYING!"
Man, perfect comparison there. And then the fact that Mauer didn't call a couple fouls on Blair is even worse!

DeMar DeRozan is budding. BIGTIME. But I can't think of ANY player that he reminds me of! Wicked mid-range jumper, no 3 point shot, drives to the hoop with tenacity, great ball handler, bad passer... Awesome defense for a sophomore..
Any comparisons come to mind??

Awesome defense for a sophomore.. Any comparisons come to mind?? A young Jim Jackson? That's a pretty good comparison, Jackson was still a pretty decent passer and 3 point shooter though... When I say zero 3 pt shot, I mean 2 for 22 on the year I hate to do it, but a lot of people are comparing him to Kobe when he first entered the league with his athleticism and midrange shot. If DeMar works on his 3 pt shooting, I think he could be an all-star type scorer for sure. He already has what every other all-star 2 guard has - midrange game and the ability to get to the line in mass quantities... Could it be far off? DeMar DeRozan 2nd Year Stats: 14.6 pts 3.4 rebs 1.7 asts 1.7 TOs .7 stls .4 blks 5.4 FGM 11.6 FGA 46.9% 3.7 FTA 4.9 FTM 75.6% Kobe Bryant 2nd Year Stats: 15.4 pts 3.1 rebs 2.5 asts 2.0 TOs .9 stls .5 blks 5.0 FGM 11.6 FGA 42.8% 4.6 FTM 5.8 FTA 79.4% Pretty similar. Especially the Free throw situation, and the A/TO ratios. Scoring, rebounding... all very similar.

Derozan is really starting to come into his own, but its hard to compare him to anyone. Reminds me slightly of a young Kobe, but I can't see him getting to a Kobe level. He really doesnt have the demeanor of an alpha dog like Kobe, he rarely demands the ball. His handle needs some improvment, and his passing needs a lot if he hopes to ever get to that level.

Well remember, the dude has Bargnani next to him take 15-20 shots a game. Not to mention the fact that DeRozan is still 19 or 20 years old. He's going to be a 20 PPG guy, maybe not a Kobe, but a very reliable scorer. Maybe a young Vince Carter with less of a 3 point shot.

Carter was insane in Toronto for a while there. Dunno if he'll get to that point. And he's 21 btw

No doubt, Carter was crazy early on. VC-lite, and a better defensive player than Carter was it seems....then again, Carter has never been a real defensive beast.

The MVP race, the shootout with AI, game 7 EC Semi's... His best year, and his only great year. I wouldn't be upset if he turned out similar to VC, I just hope he doesn't lose that tenacity getting to the rim man. DD is crazy about hitting the floor and getting to the hole, something you can't CAN'T teach. I don't think DD will be a Kobe type either, but he'll definitely be an allstar someday. We might have to go back a couple generations to find a good comparison for him, because he's definitely an old school player. Dr. J? You can't put it past him, he's athletic, aggressive, a solid jumper - Disregarding everything else (rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) look at the percentages and attempts...DD plays very, very similar to Dr. J: www.basketball-reference.com/players/e/ervinju01.html

I love the way DeRozan plays, and if he can improve is 3 point shot at the pace Rose has in one summer, he will be a very frightening player but I still wouldnt put him anywhere near Kobe or Dr. J, a good potentially great scorer in the future but i dont know if he has the "clutch gene" as Skip Bayless calls it that Kobe has an Dr. J had earlier in his career.
