C- Shaquille O'Neal
Last years Most Valuable Player and All-League First team player and the odds on favorite to take this position again. Shaquille O'Neal just has to much size, strength and speed for opposing defenders. Shaq is entering his prime, so there should be no reason to think that he will be slowing down anytime soon. Last year he averaged 26 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assist, 1.4 steals and 1.7 blocks a game. He shot 51% from the field last year, he is one of the most effective players in this league. When you have this type of power in your hands, what would you do? Shaq seems to be the last true great center with Ewing, Olajuwon, Sabonis and Robinson getting up their in age. We can give this award to Shaq for the next ten years because their is no one to give him legit competition.
PF- Kevin Garnett
Back to back all defensive teams and back to back all league team participant, Kevin Garnett is just starting to come into his own. When you look at Kevin Garnett it's easy to overlook the fact that he is still only twenty four years old and has been in the league for five years. Last year Kevin has a sort of coming out party averaging 27.7 points a game, 10.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.5 steals and just under two blocks a game. Garnett is the total package you want from a player, he is a leader, excellent defender and has the size and length to give opposing players fits. The only knock on him has been is that he is not as efficient on offense as he should be. Though if you look at their roster this year, he finally has some help on the team. Between Odom and Jackson, KG finally has some players that can create on their own. We expect his scoring efficiency to spike this year.
SF- Paul Pierce
Every year Paul Pierce keeps improving. Coming off his best season in the league, Pierce was an All-League third teamer last year. With Pierce you can see the progression that he makes from the previous year. Last year he improved his scoring, rebounding and assists. 23.3 points a game, 7.8 rebounds a game, 3.6 assists per game and a steal and a half a contest. Were expecting Pierce to make the jump this year to improve on these numbers as he and Walker keep getting better. This past offseason Pierce worked a lot to improve his defense to match his excellent offensive skills. That dedication is what leads us to believe that he will make the All-League first team.
SG- Penny Hardaway
Penny Hardaway is playing a position in which there are few true shooting guards. Guys like Ray Allen and Eddie Jones will make a case, but if the Magic keep Hardaway at shooting guard there is no reason why he shouldn't take this award again. Last year he averaged 23 points a game, six rebounds, 4 assists a game and two steals a game. Penny Hardaway is being flirted by the Magic GM to possibly starting at point. One thing FBB does love is it's players with assist and getting four assists from the shooting guard position. Penny has the all around game that is unmatched currently around the league.
PG- Jason Kidd
Is it crazy not to have Allen Iverson here? Possibly but I believe in the hype that is Jason Kidd. After a scary explosion in training camp for Kidd, he looks even more impressive than ever. I feel that Jason Kidd can keep up the same scoring output that he did last year, but with the talent that he has on the Grizzlies team I believe that his assist will go up by a few. Jason Kidd last year averaged 22.6 points a game, 9.8 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. We expect Jason Kidd to get back on his game and back on his defensive grind. We expect a big year for Kidd, All League first team and All Defensive team again for Kidd.
