1 Toronto Raptors - Kuran Iverson SF 6'8'' 205 19 B B- B- B- C- A
Often battled with Randle as the number one prospect to mock sites, Iverson has the skill set to really make a impact right away. His offensive game is already there despite being just 19 years old. Iverson will probably be an elite player in just a few years, reminds people a lot of LeBryan Nash a talented small forward who can do it all. Iverson, Birch and Wall will be a damn fine trio.
2 Minnesota Timberwolves - Julius Randle PF 6'10'' 230 19 B+ C C- B- B A
I expect the Wolves to move Randle to small forward and see that defense go up. Between Randle and Judge the Wolves will be punishing teams down low for a long time to come. The Wolves were a powerhouse for many years, but this year will be a long one for them probably, however having Randle on the front line will make fans cope. Randle's offensive game at 19 years old is something that's downright impressive.
3 Washington Wizards - Kyle Wiltjer PF 6'10'' 235 21 C+ B+ D+ C+ B B
I honestly don't understand this pick at all really, even if the Wizards run an outside focus. They some real nice talent on that team, but they could have landed Wiltjer in the teens probably, could have really cashed in if they tried to trade this pick. Wiltjer going before Purvis, Ellis, Johnson is a bit perplexing to me. This pick is very reminiscent to when the Bobcats drafted Morrison, it will be a wasted one to me.
4 Cleveland Cavaliers - Alex Poythress SF 6'9'' 225 20 B- C C- B- C A
The Cavs need a lot of help so it's sort of hard to criticize this pick. Poythress has a sky high potential but when Purvis is on the board and Gilbert Arenas as your shooting guard, you can't pass on him. However Poythress will be an excellent defender and rebounder in this league and is a terror in transition. Him and Paige should be an exciting team on the fast break, however the Cavs will be in the lotto again next year.
5 Los Angeles Lakers - Perry Ellis PF 6'9'' 225 20 B C+ C- B- C+ A
The Lakers have young talent all over the roster, so anyone makes sense. They take Ellis who will battle McAdoo from day one for the job. I think Johnson, Noel or Christmas would have made more sense since their more polished, but the Lakers are being patient so I can't blame them taking the talented player in Ellis. However they will be killed on the boards night in and night out for years to come until something is changed.
6 Houston Rockets - Rodney Purvis SG 6'4'' 185 20 B- B+ C B- D A
One of the last few to come from the class of 2012, Purvis has enjoyed some solid years in College and his jumpshot is proof of that. We believe that Purvis could wind up being a go to scorer this year if need be. The Rockets have Ross at shooting guard, but he will lose that job with this selection. We feel that Purvis has the talent and make up to challenge Iverson as the best player in this draft class. Getting Purvis at six is the equivalent of expecting a cliche pickup line to work, it just shouldn't happen.
7 Denver Nuggets - Dakari Johnson C 6'10'' 250 18 B C- C- C+ B- A
The Nuggets fans are being extremely cautious when it comes to Johnson, the fans are just starting to get over the Favors fiasco. However on paper Johnson is the center in this draft with the highest ceiling, he should be a force on the court. He already has a solid low post game and a frame that will grow to be stronger. Johnson and Griffin on paper should be a dynamic duo in the front court, but I feel like we have said this before. Be careful Denver fans...
8 Indiana Pacers - Chris Thomas SG 6'5'' 190 19 B- B+ C- C+ C- A
Shooting guard rankings can be funny some times, there are like four or five guys on the board that some GM's might all have ranked completely different. Thomas is the prototypical shooting guard because he loves to shoot, very similar to JR Smith sometimes. Thomas has all the talent in the world and the mental case of Metta World Peace. Thomas can really stroke the ball and can handle it good, surprisingly good court vision. With no SG's on the roster, this is a good pick.
9 San Antonio Spurs - A.J. Hammons C 6'10'' 280 21 B D D+ B C+ A
To me AJ Hammons is what some people call fake hustle, on paper he looks good but we just don't think he will get that much better. His size is enormous and played well against the big men in the combine, he was simply to big. However I think the Spurs were enamored with that A potential, but we feel that is a hoax. Hammons will score some points and play some solid defense but he has no conditioning, you can't contribute if your not on the floor.
10 Milwaukee Bucks - Nerlens Noel C 6'10'' 210 19 C+ C- D+ B+ B- A
The Bucks over the past few years have really landed some elite talent, guys like Drummond, Kabongo, Selby and Davis are all corner stone players. So the Bucks use the tenth pick on a player that will have a role for years, the defender off the bench. Noel already brings elite defense for a teenager and has room to grow and put on more strength. The Bucks are thinking long term with this pick and I like it.
11 Miami Heat - Rakeem Christmas PF 6'9'' 232 21 C+ D D+ B B+ A
Interesting pick from the Heat. I say it's interesting because they have Blatche who is entering the prime of his career already at the power forward spot. When William Buford is your starting shooting guard you should take one. With no cap space they won't land a shooting guard in free agency of any worth, so why not take one? Either way Christmas is an excellent role player, really fits that grinder/defender/enforcer role. His offensive game is limited to dunks, so a lot of work will need to be put it on that end. Like the player, don't like the team.
12 Memphis Grizzlies - Shaquille Cleare C 6'9'' 270 20 B+ D+ D+ C+ B- B
The Grizz take the big kid Cleare who will be a force in the low paint, however that's all he will be probably. Another big men who really only brings one side of the ball. Cleare has the offensive game of a veteran despite being only twenty. I guess he can balance out Bynum and Martynas since they play excellent defense, but like the Heat I would have went with a shooting guard. Cleare will probably come of the bench and score a ton.
13 Philadelphia 76ers (from Bulls) - Glenn Robinson III SF 6'6'' 200 21 B- B- C C+ C A
The 76ers made the finals after the trade for Monta Ellis gave them a huge boost. Glenn Robinson is going to be a damn fine offensive player, but never much on the defensive end. With Monta and Jimmer running things in Philly, they are looking for role players. Glenn Robinson the third will be sitting on the bench this year as Hamilton will be the starting small forward. His offensive game will give the team a boost, but if him and Jimmer are on the court at the same time that will be a liability.
