Over the past few years it has seemed that activity has taken a slight hit, this much is obvious. However it's also obvious that this league has a nice core of GM's that just won't leave unless your named Luca. Many guys here are invested in SSBL whether it be 3, 4, Tomorrow, Infinity or whatever else may come. So the question then becomes, how come the articles are becoming stagnant?
Me personally I find is that it all comes down to trading. I'm known for using cash in deals whether I'm purchasing players or draft picks, trading has been extremely slow over the past few years. However what happens when I only trade with one team and have a surplus of cash? I personally don't see the need to write articles anymore because my players earned me everything that I needed. So if I can camp my guys and still have enough left over what's the point? I was a DC counter and draft mod helper, that earned me even more money. What a few words can do it can be done with a few double doubles and posting who missed a DC.
However now that I have a surplus of cash I need to come up a reason to write articles. Maybe I need to launch of war of words against a GM/Team/Player but that comes off as borderline petty. Maybe I need to do a few recaps of my team but those get extremely stagnant for the reader and writer alike. So in this article I'm trying to come up with a reason to write articles. No body likes it when a simmer makes a mandate to write articles, some people just don't write articles and that's fine. Some people write the same exact article every year with a new fresh touch.
So you take away the trades and your left with a surplus of cash for me, therefore a lacking of articles from me. I mean maybe if there was some big incentive for me to reach that would be something, like a team camp but there should be no reason for an incentive to be made. Some might point out that if your raise the prices on camps that might have an impact, but Id see it as a negative one. Maybe if it wasn't easy to earn cash, but that turns people off as well. It's really a lose-lose situation for a lot of people. So when it comes down to me I find it that my writing will come every now and then but it's purely leisure time for me.
