I found it an very interesting article and decided to make my own version and will give a run down all all our picks in league history. As it goes with keeping a winning team there were not too many high picks, nevertheless some good ones. Not counting this draft, in 14 seasons I picked 29 players of whom 16 are still activly playing in the league. Let's rewind, way back:
1999
2nd Overall Andrei Kirilenko
1999 SF 6'9" 18 215 B- C C B C+ A
2013 SF 32 6'9'' 215 B- A- D+ A C+ D
-------------------------------------
32nd Overall Vonteego Cummings
1999 PG 23 6'1'' 190 B- C B- B- D+ B
-------------------------------------
Cummings had just a short stint in the league but "AK 47" was a hit here. He stayed in Russia for two more years after being drafted, but when he came over his rookie season started our league record 12 consecutive Playoff run. After spending 7 seasons with us, he was the centerpiece of the trade the brought Hall of Famer and our later Finals MVP Tim Duncan over from the Lakers, where he still plays as of today.
2000
2nd Overall Lamar Odom
2000 PF 6'10'' 220 19 B- C C+ C+ B- A
2013 PF 32 6'10'' 220 B+ C B B+ B D
-------------------------------------
14th Overall Dalibor Bagaric
2000 C 20 7'1'' 250 B- D+ D- B- C+ A
-------------------------------------
We held the 2nd pick for a 2nd consecutive year and selected another tweener forward in Lamar Odom, though with a different skillset the Kirilenko. He failed to break through though and was often delegated to the bench. Only in Utah, being traded there after 6 seasons, would he find his niche was even honored with an All League 1st Team in 2010. Bagaric was a Euro project who busted out of the league.
2001
6th Overall Richard Jefferson
2001 SF 6'7'' 222 21 B- C+ C B C A
-------------------------------------
47th Overall Lazaros Papadopoulos
2001 C 6'11'' 240 21 B- D+ D C+ B- C
-------------------------------------
56th Overall Robertas Javtokas
2001 PF 6'10'' 213 21 C D+ F+ B C+ C
2013 C 6'10'' 213 33 C D+ D A B- B
-------------------------------------
Jefferson was labeled a talented down to earth guy in college but his skills could never outshine the drug and violence scandals. After 3 inconsistent seasons with us he spent a few more with Cleveland then played himself out of the league as a journeyman. Rumours have he is playing in Estland now with Dennis Rodman. Papadopulos was just another big Euro who never panned out, while Robertas Javtokas was the only white Euro center drafted by us to break that curse.
2002
10th Overall Kwame Brown
2002 PF 6'11'' 243 20 C+ D+ D+ C+ B- A
2013 PF 31 6'11'' 243 B D+ C- B+ B+ C
-------------------------------------
22nd Overall Tito Maddox
2002 PG 6'4'' 190 21 C+ C+ B C+ C- A
2013 PG 6'4'' 190 32 C+ B B B+ C- C
-------------------------------------
43rd Overall Frank Williams
2002 PG 6'3'' 205 22 C B- B B- D+ C
-------------------------------------
Maddox and Brown have become solid role players and have both played over 800 games in 11 seasons. Both are currently members of the Houston Rockets, where Maddox also won the 6th Man of the Year Award in 2009. Kwame Brown was traded to the Clippers for a 2007 1st round pick that turned out pretty. Williams has not been able to set foot in the league, only appearing rarely and is retired after a career in Europe.
2003
16th Overall Boris Diaw
2003 SF 6'8'' 203 21 C+ C B- B- C+ A
2013 SF 31 6'8'' 203 B- B+ A B- B B
-------------------------------------
26th Overall Steve Blake
2003 PG 6'3'' 172 23 C B- B+ B- D+ C
2013 PG 6'3'' 172 33 C A- A B- C- C
-------------------------------------
28th Overall Nikoloz Tskitishvili
2003 SF 7'0'' 225 20 C+ B- C C+ C A
2013 SF 7'0'' 225 30 C+ A- C B+ C C
-------------------------------------
The 2003 Draft was one of the deepest ... bla bla bla ... bla bla ... Steve Blake! The playmaker out of Maryland and 36th overall team instantly became a starter on a 50 win team and was selected to the All Rookie First Team that year. Tskitishvili was traded in his rookie season to the Warriors for another infamous future first rounder in 2007. 2003! Diaw has developed into the most versatile role player in the league and we have enjoyed all of the 8 seasons he has been with us. What a draft!
2004
22nd Overall Josh Childress
2004 SF 6'8'' 205 21 C+ C+ C B C B
-------------------------------------
23rd Overall Lenny Cooke
2004 SG 6'6'' 206 22 B- C C B- C B
2013 SG 6'6'' 206 31 B+ B- C A- C C
-------------------------------------
We bought back to back picks that year and while Childress turned out to be nothing spectacular and now plays in Greece, Cooke was a huge steal. After spending the first 2 seasosn in the D League, where he made a huge leap, he entered the league as one of the better defenders at his position already. Reluctantly we had to trade him in the last year of his rookie deal.
2005
The roster was deep with little room to develop any more players so we didn't own any picks in the 2005 draft.
2006
The situation was similar as in 2005 and there simply was no reason to make a move to get into the 2006 draft.
2007
3rd Overall Al Horford
2007 C 6'10'' 245 21 B C- C B B- B
2013 C 27 6'10'' 245 B+ C C B+ B C
-------------------------------------
10th Overall D.J. Augustin
2007 PG 5'11'' 175 20 C B- B C+ C- A
2013 PG 26 5'11'' 175 B- B+ A- B C- B
-------------------------------------
28th Overall Javaris Crittenton
2007 PG 6'5'' 194 20 B- C- B C+ D+ B
-------------------------------------
In 2007 we were lucky that 2 draft picks we aquired seasons ago for less valuable players now turned to fall into the lottery. Crittenton plays in China. Horford and Augustin were both turned into starters of our 2011 Championship team via trade and look like they will have long careers in this league.
2008
27th Overall Ante Tomic
2008 C 7'2'' 220 21 B- C- C+ C C+ B
-------------------------------------
34th Overall Courtney Lee
2008 SG 6'5'' 200 23 C+ B+ C C C- B
2013 SG 6'5'' 200 28 C A C B D+ C
-------------------------------------
Tomic was another big white bust and went back to Europe after no SSBL team signed him last season. Lee has developed into one of the leagues premier sharpshooters and will have a place in this league as long as his defense stays on point.
2009
21st Overall Toney Douglas
2009 PG 6'1'' 196 23 C+ B B- C+ D+ B
-------------------------------------
22nd Overall B.J. Mullens
2009 C 7'0'' 260 20 C+ C C- C+ C+ A
-------------------------------------
25th Overall Bill Walker
2009 SF 6'6'' 225 22 C+ B- C B- C B
2013 SF 6'6'' 225 26 C+ B+ C B C B
-------------------------------------
54th Overall Lester Hudson
2009 PG 6'3'' 190 25 C C+ C+ B- D- C
-------------------------------------
Surprisingly neither Douglas nor Mullens have managed to survive in the league. I thought we had drafted 3 solid contributors but only Bill Walker has proven me right in this one. We could have done better in this one. Hudson never played a game for us as we didn't even offer him a contract.
2010
57th Overall Darington Hobson
2010 SF 6'7'' 205 23 C+ C+ C+ C+ C+ C
-------------------------------------
Hobson was a training camp filler who left the league as quickly as he arrived.
2011
56th Overall Andrew Goudelock
2011 PG 6'2'' 200 23 C B B- C+ D+ C
-------------------------------------
We don't have much to tolk about this one, except that it is higly likely he will not return to this league anymore.
2012
29th Overall Kostas Papanikolaou
2012 SF 6'8'' 225 22 B- C+ C B- C- A
2013 SF 23 6'8'' 225 B- B C B+ C B
-------------------------------------
36th Overall William Buford
2012 SG 6'5'' 185 22 C+ B C+ C+ C- B
2013 SG 23 6'5'' 185 B- B- C+ B C- B
-------------------------------------
45th Overall Hollis Thompson
2012 SF 6'7'' 205 21 C+ B- C- B- C B
2013 SF 22 6'7'' 205 C+ B C B C B
I was not very happy to part with Buford, but we shall see. Either way all have the ifts to stick in this league if they work on their games. Especially Kostas has made alot of effort since entering the league to be able to fight for that SF slot soon.
2013
28th Overall Tim Hardaway Jr.
2013 SG 6'5'' 195 21 C+ B B- C D+ B
-------------------------------------
29th Overall Wally Judge
2013 PF 6'9'' 245 23 B+ D+ D+ C+ B- C
-------------------------------------
31st Overall Nemanja Nedovic
2013 PG 6'3'' 200 22 B- C+ C+ B C B
