1999 Wildcard Results

Igor Rakocevic - remaining with KK Crvena Zvezda for 1 more year (still draft elligible)
Andrei Kirilenko - remaining with CSKA Moskow for 1 or 2 years (still draft elligible)
Kostas Tsartsaris - headed to the USA for the draft

These players have decided to return to school:

Jonathan Bender
Jumaine Jones
Lamar Odom

Richard Hamilton

The Duke Blue Devils fell short to the UConn Huskies in the NCAA tournament...eager to win a ship, Corey Maggette and Elton Brand are returning to Duke for at least one more year, chasing after that title. Champion and MOP Richard Hamilton vows that the team can win one again next year and is returning for his senior season in hopes of repeating. With the abundance of wing players declaring, Dion Glover hopes to increase his stock next year and will return to Georgia Tech to work on his game. HS stud Jonathan Bender doesn't like his projection, and has committed to attend Mississippi State University. Jumaine Jones also feels that the draft is already SF-heavy and is returning to Georgia. Lamar Odom is returning to RI after one impressive freshman season, wants to polish up his game some more. Finally, Marcus Fizer has shown that his shooting game has been improving, and is also returning to school.

Igor Rakocevic will stay with KK Crvena Zvezda for 1 more for the final year of his contract. He is keeping his name in the draft this year in hopes of one day having a spot on a SSBL team next year. Andrei Kirilenko is staying in Russia with CSKA Moskow for at least 1 more year. After that year he may be bought out, but is still signed until 2001. He is, however, leaving his name in this year's draft. Kostas Tsartsaris finished up his one year contract with his former club in Greece and is headed to the USA to test the draft waters.

the wildcard is pretty random. So two guaranteed lotto Forwards (Brand and Odom) both go back to school..

thats like Favors and Cousins going back to school this year

will he and his contract be on the roster?
will he have a TC?

You can draft the player, but he wont be put on your roster till 1 or 2 years from now.

For argument's sake, let's say its 2 years. So if you draft so-and-so, you wont see him on your team's roster until 2001 (since this is the 1999 draft). What he would be earning in 1999 (his year 1 salary) will be what his starting salary will be in 2001. Year 2 will be 2002, Y3 in 2003 Y4 in 2004 and he will be a FA in 2005 just like as if he were a rookie

Since I have a backup copy of the file, I'll sim 1 or 2 seasons WITH THE PLAYER ON YOUR ROSTER, though you wont see it. I'll run TC's on my copy of the game, but the only time you see your player is when he is moves to your team in 2000 or 2001. However, I will keep you (and everyone) updated on the player during regular seasons and post draft news so you can keep tabs on how he is developing....or not developing

Brand and Odom going back to school makes this PF class really weak...making Kenny Thomas or Chris Andersen the top PF prospects .....haha

Dave and I decided that drafting AK or Igor means you will see him on your roster, but will earn a whopping $1 until he comes over from his respective country. He will remain on IR until he comes over. Him being on your roster also allows you to see his ratings. He goes through TC too, but you are unable to use him until he comes over. He will earn $1 so his salary wont count toward your cap. His 4 year rookie contract begins when he comes over to the USA.
