1. Denver Nuggets
Needs: PG, PF, C
Generally GMs select the best player available regardless of position when they have the #1 pick. PG Derrick Rose hasn't developed an outside game, which he will need to do to become a superstar in this league. The Nuggets take the risk here.
2. Washington Wizards
Needs: C, SG, SF
Player selected:
The wizards have a promising PF already in Millsap, and their franchise player in D-Will. We think that they look carefully at Gordon, Mayo and Curry to complete their backcourt for years to come-but end up selecting PF Blake Griffin.
3. Chicago Bulls
Needs: best player available
The Bulls have young talent at every position already but lack a go to guy that can be the team's cornerstone player. We think they grab SG Eric Gordon who can put up points at will. Mayo may be the better option here but the Bulls end up selecting Gordon anyway.
4. Los Angeles Clippers
Needs: best player available
The Clippers roster contains a lot of hype players that have yet to define their career. Their bright spot is SG Nick Young who has shown flashes of promise. We think they select SF Danilo Gallinari here whose length and outside shot make him a one of a kind player. Scouts are raving about his ability to not only shoot but slash to the basket as well.
5. Sacramento Kings
Needs: C
Kings fans have got to be excited at whats going on in Sacramento. Roy, Smith and Horford make up a very nice nucleus. We think the Kings select big man Kevin Love who will complement them very nicely. He never plays defense but makes up for it by being an elite defender and has a high bball iq.
6. Vancouver Grizzlies
Needs: SG, PF, C
The Grizzlies have basically stripped their team bare with the exception of Rajon Rondo and Danny Granger. Rondo has been putting on a clinic for them and Granger is their go to guy so the Grizzlies are going to be looking for the best 3rd wheel here.
Player selected: OJ Mayo
7. Philadelphia 76'ers
Needs: Wing
76'ers look strong in the frontcourt and have all league player Chris Paul leading them at PG. They will need a wing player here that can give them a boost on both ends of the floor. We think they grab frenchman SF Nicolas Batum here who has potential to be a solid contributer and a starter at the SF position.
8. Indiana Pacers
Needs: PG,SF
The Pacers have a solified their frontcourt for years to come with blatche and sofo, but they will be looking for a upgrade at PG, SG or SF where they can shuffle some players around. We think they take PG Stephen Curry here who will be a very nice addition to their backcourt.
9. Miami Heat
Needs: C, PG, SG
The Heat have their main player already in Al Jefferson but need to find him a accomplice in the frontcourt. Nelson and JRich seem to be ok for the time being so we think they grab C Roy Hibbert here, the best C available.
10. Indiana Pacers
Needs: PG,SF
The Pacers may just try to take the best talent available here, as they already have a few positions covered. C JaVale McGee needs to bulk up but will be a nice pickup for them and gives them the 3rd big man they need.
11. Seattle Supersonics
Needs: SG, C
Sonic fans are depressed every since Kobe left but the Sonics GM felt the need to shuffle things around and get new blood. C DeAndre Jordan gives the Sonics something to be excited about, hes only 20 and actually plays defense.
12. Detroit Pistons
Needs: best player available
Pistons GM has gathered nice talent at pretty much every position so they will be looking to pick up whoever they think can make an impact for them. They could use another wing player but they end up grabbing Goran Dragic here who has a well balanced game.
13. Orlando Magic
Needs: PF/C
The Magic seem to be entering rebuild mode as they are looking empty in the frontcourt, they grab Serge Ibaka here who is currently overseas playing in the Spanish league, but scouts say his knack for defense along with his tough inside game makes him worthy of the lotto.
