PG Allen Iverson – Celtics
Second only to Joe Johnson in league scoring, can't be overlooked as an ASG starter.
SG Ray Allen – Bulls
Trails slightly behind AI in scoring, the Bulls' captain is a crazy shooter.
SF LeBron James – Celtics
The dude is almost averaging a Triple Double, and can even fill it up OFF THE BENCH as runNgunn has experimented with.
PF Andrea Bargnani – Bucks
Ok, hear me out. Assuming no one posts a position change since reading this, the Italian rookie is the best listed PF statistically in the East since Amar'e moved to the Center position.
C Shaquille O'Neal - Celtics
The Big Shamrock is the real deal. You can pencil him in as an All Star every year, it seems.
PG Kobe Bryant - Raptors
Kobe brought his game out East this year, and OF COURSE he'll be an All-Star
SG Dwyane Wade - Raptors
Wade had a nice TC and playing next to Kobe this year really pumped him up, I guess. 22/8/5 are some All Star numbers, but 4.2 TOPG kidna isn't. But We'll see.
SF Tracy McGrady - Knicks
TMac is 5th in the league in scoring and is helping keep the Knicks relevant in the East so far.
PF Jermaine O'Neal – Heat
Same reason as Bargnani starting, not many good listed PFs.
C Amar'e Stoudemire – Knicks
23/11, the explosive Amar'e Stoudemire should make the ASG no matter what position he's listed as (unless it's PG, then that's debatable).
PG Chauncey Billups – Nuggets
I have Chauncey starting at PG because he can light it up and isn't even a scoring option for the Nugs. He also leads the league in APG
SG Joe Johnson – Blazers
MVP, need I say more?
SF Vince Carter – Rockets
Ok, the Rockets aren't a playoff team RIGHT NOW but they are (almost) a .500 team and VC is a high-flyer that even the FBB execs can't refuse to leave out of an ASG.
PF Kevin Garnett – Twolves
The Twolves are the best team in the league right now, and KG is the best player on the Twolves. This is a no-brainer every year.
C Tim Duncan – Lakers
The Lakers are on fire right now, and TD leads the league in Rebounds per game. The Big Fundamental is a key reason for their success.
PG Mike Bibby – Spurs
If I decided reserves, Steve Nash would get the nod as he has helped towards the Lakers' success, while Bibby is essentially the only guard on his team, putting up an impressive 22/8. But FBB loves stats.
SG Gilbert Arenas – Suns
The Suns are the surpise team of the year and Agent Zero is making it known. He's averaging a team-best 24 PPG to go along with 5 RPG and 2.5 SPG.
SF Jerry Stackhouse – Sonics
Stack has some stacked rating and he is the go-to scorer for the red-i-mean-green-hot Sonics.
PF Dirk Nowitzki – Lakers
The big German fellow is averaging 26/10 and has some crazy-good shooting %'s all across the board. Definitely All-Star material.
C Sofoklis Schortsanitis – Grizzlies
I would put McDyess here if he was left as a C but Sofo is putting up good numbers (19/9) although on a .500 team.
Snubs!
PG Jason Kidd – Celtics
WHAT!?!? JKIDD NOT AN ALL-STAR!? NFW!! Well, there’s only room for two PGs on the East team, and I have Kobe and Kidd’s teammate AI, who is kililn’ it in the scoring department. So I have Kidd getting snubbed. UMAD!?
C Yao Ming - Raptors
Yao could make it again, but with Amar'e moving to C in NY, it severely hurts the big China man's chances this time around.
C Erick Dampier - Hornets
His rebounding and blocking has dipped a bit, which could hurt his chances. And not to mention his team is sub .500 too.
SF Carmelo Anthony - Bulls
He is the 2nd option his team and averaging better numbers than most #1 options on other teams. Definitely deserves some consideration if Tmac or his buddy LeBron get hurt.
SF Antoine Walker - Hawks
"Mr. Money Bags" is putting up 23/7/3 in the season after signing his big contract, but his team isn't seeded which hurts his chances.
PG Leandro Barbosa - Pistons
Detroit's Brazilian Blur actually deserves some consideration if Kobe/AI get hurt.
PG Stephon Marbury - Nets
Consistent and somewhat deserving every season, but the last time he was an All Star was in 2003, when Kidd and Kobe were doing their thing in the West.
PG Deron Williams - Wizards
Averaging 24/8 but being on a losing team hurts your chances. Not to mention that Kobe and Iverson aren't entirely undeserving of a ASG appearance over the young Deron. Future All-Star PG, maybe.
PG Ed Cota - Pacers
Averaging 25/7 but also 4 TO's a game. Essentially, great stats on a bad team. Except his turnovers per game, which is a bad stat on a bad team.
SF Quentin Richardson - Clippers
It'd would be hard to nominate an All-Star who can't get his out of the bottom of the standings.
PF Antonio McDyess - Nuggets
No, Quintero! keep him at Center if you want him to have a shot at making an ASG appearance! KG and Dirk are the PF's!
SF Keith Van Horn - Blazers
KVH has been consistent 20/7 player for a few years now, and the robin to Joe Johnson's batman should deserve some recognition.
SF Rasheed Wallace - Mavs
24/8 are good numbers, but the Mavs are a losing team.
PF Emeka Okafor - Spurs
Really came onto his own this year, averaging 19/13 thus far, but might be overlooked due to Dirk and KG being so good.
PF Elton Brand - Rockets
19/9 as his usual self, should get some consideration, but is probably a long-shot.
