Elton Brand PF 20 6'8'' 260 Duke Soph. B- C- D+ B B- A Very skilled in the low-post. Has good hands, and good sized, though a bit short for a PF, but has all the tools to become successful in the league. He's a great defender too, as to why Coach K is in love with him. Not a very quick player but has some surprising agility and can run the floor pretty well. Another plus is his shot blocking ability. Some may be concerned at his weight, handling, and the ability to pass out of double teams. But nonetheless, a top pick whenever he declares.
Lamar Odom PF 20 6'10'' 220 Rhode Island-Fr. B- C C+ C+ B- A Odom can shoot, handle the ball, and create his own shot. He is more of a point-forward, less of a traditional "Power" forward. Decent passer too. Also a decent defender and a solid rebounder, especially on put-backs as he crashes the boards. Also comes through in clutch situations. Solid jumper already but will need to develop it better. Also needs to learn to move without the ball. His ceiling is pretty high though.
Marcus Fizer PF 21 6'8" 265 Iowa State Soph. B- C D+ B- C+ B Fizer has been compared to Karl Malone because of his ability to get his shot off quicker and more accurate than any other power forward in college. He has good strength will allow him to compete with other SSBL forwards. Also has good range on his jumper. His defense may be of some concern, but he is improving. Has a body like Brand, but Brand is a superior defender. Not very quick, so I don't know how much time you'll see him playing SF.
Leon Smith PF 19 6'10'' 215 MLK HS (IL) C+ C- D- B C A Very Raw. The kid averaged 6.0 BPG in his senior year in HS but was a man among boys. Solid rebounder on the offensive glass. Uses his big body to pound opposing HS centers the blocks. Can run the floor pretty well for a player his size although he is no speedster he certainly isn't a plodder. Can be very intimidating on defense were his long arms can block shots with the best of them. However, he is very raw in his low post moves. Tries to block everything and picks up pointless fouls. Sometimes he looks lazy out on the floor. Needs to work on his maturity in-game and still needs to learn the game in general. Also not a great FT shooter.
Chris Andersen PF 21 6'10 230 Blinn College Sr C+ D+ D+ B+ C+ B Great shot blocker and has good leaping ability. The Bird Man is also a high-energy player, so you know what you're in for night in, night out. Crashes the offensive glass. Offensively, needs allot of work. Almost no range. FT shooting isn't horrible, but not great. Has good size but could bulk up some more to make it in this league. Should be a 1st round pick though, I mean, what team wouldn't want another shot-blocker on their roster?
Kenny Thomas PF 6'8'' 22 250 New Mexico Sr. B- C+ C- B- B- B Thomas helped New Mexico win a first round game in the NCAA tournament in all four years he was there. He had some great games and averaged both double figure points and rebounds for the Lobos, but he never cracked the 20 ppg mark. Decent passer, good rebounder. Has a decent mid-range shot too and a pretty good FT% throughout his career. However, his lackadaisical play at times will certainly hurt his draft stock. Some also question his attitude. He played Center in college, but isn't tall enough to be a center in the pro's.
Michael Ruffin PF 22 6'8'' 235 Tulsa Sr C+ D- C- B- B C Ruffin does all the dirty work. He is a solid low-post defender and has good strength. He has some hops too and his stregnth+leaping ability make him a great rebounder. Ruffin is not a very good offensive player, however. His offense is still very much a work in progress, as it is limited to shots close to the basket. He could be a nice reserve for some teams, and should last a long time because of his work ethic and desire to do the dirty work down low.
Scott Padgett PF 23 6'9'' 240 Kentucky Sr. C B+ C- C+ C+ B Not a traditional power forward and more of a shooter, although he can still bang around with the big boys down low. Good 3pt shooter and FT shooter. His range really stretches the opposing defense, as he can compliment a drive-and-kick guard well. Also a decent passer. His greatest strength is his leadership ability though.
Cal Bowdler PF 22 6'10'' 245 Old Dominion Sr. C+ C C- C+ B- C Bowdler is a mobile big man. Can block some shots and has also improved offensively over his 4 years at Old Dominion, especially in the area of shooting. Is not afraid to take the outside shot, but does not shoot a high percentage. Rebounds the ball pretty well too. Will need to work on his post defense and not picking up tick tack fouls.
Harold Jamison PF 23 6'8" 260 Clemson Sr C+ D+ D C B- D Big body but not quick. Defense is a big concern. Excellent rebounder for his size. Poor shooter. 2nd rounder (if at that)
Rick Hughes PF 26 6'9" 235 Thomas More College C+ F+ D+ C B- D See: Harold Jamison but older, and worse at free throws. More athletic than Jamison though.
Tyrone Grant PF 22 6'7'' 240 St. John's Sr. C+ F+ D+ B C D Great post defender, but poor shot blocker and not a great rebounder. Has shown his skill set in the low post, but has also displayed his inability to hit jumpers and free throws. Defensive specialist, but that's about it
