Ok Steverever and I are throwing a Super Bowl party at our house for the first time ever. What are some essential things to plan/prepare/order in terms of food, drinks, etc?
i.e. share absolute 'must's food-wise for a SBP

COMBINE THEM!
1 can refried beans+1/2ish thing of pace picante sauce hot or med(enough to make it pasty but not liquid) Dip chips in it then enjoy

also.. overbuy beer. thou shalt not run out at any time during the game...
plus you should be trashed by halftime so you dont have to listen to clos to the back-eyed pisspoor performers..

Im going to do a big pot of chili, wings, chips and salsa, nacho cheese, French onion dip and lays chips, and some random bags of chips. Pizza is always good, and can replace chili, but I just like chili because you can eat it plain, or mix it with the nacho cheese and make it a dip. I alway like to snack and drink beer for the entire game. My buddys wife makes a buffalo cheese dip, its a mixture of shredded chicken, whatever hot sauce you like, and maybe sour cream, I can get recipe if your want. Im going to do a big pot of chili, wings, chips and salsa, nacho cheese, French onion dip and lays chips, and some random bags of chips. Also take that like pub cheese mix that with some horseraddish and a block of cream cheese and thats good with pretzals... |

To me the most essential thing to have is a drinking game within the game. Say if five are going for the Steelers and the other five are going for the Packers make them do shots every time their opposing team scores. This can be carbombs, regular shots, jello shots IE whatever you drink. Usually me and my friends just get a Keg, make sure it's flowing.
Also I think their should be one main food, Wings is usually the go to move. Pizza is not bad, but this is a day to let yourself go. I also think it's good to have a dip that is overboard, IE salsa with meat in it. Chilli dip with beef is quite good.
I think most people tend to fall into the trap of trying to do to much, when in fact the game is the most important thing really.

lots of beer avoid the hard stuff
meat that goes in buns (thats what she said), chips and dip, chilli, some soda for the non manly folks at the party and you should be good
