The 06-07 season is underway and some surprises have arisen out West.. The West looks the same as last year, except for a few things. The East isn't far off as far as dominance like past years, so the teams out West need to step up and prove their worth in the league.
1. Minnesota Timberwolves
Previous Rank: 1 Change: N/A
current record: 25-5
Top Player: Kevin Garnett
The Wolves keep on winning. Winners of 13 of their last 16 games. Impressive, enough said.
2. Seattle Supersonics
Previous Rank: 3 Change: +1
current record: 18-14
Top Player: Jerry Stackhouse
The Sonics keep proving many wrong. They have played pretty good ball, and should stick near the top all season long. More moves could come word is from the Seattle GM.
3. Los Angeles Lakers
Previous Rank: 4 Change:+1
current record: 15-11
Top Player: Dirk Nowitzki
The Lakers are getting better and we are reassured that they are back in tip top form to chase the title come playoff time.
4 Golden State Warriors
Previous Rank: 5 Change: -1
current record: 13-11
Top player: Raymond Felton
The Warriors are above.500 and playing decent ball. Can they keep it going is the question.
5. Portland Trailblazers
Previous Rank: 8 Change: +3
current record: 16-14
Top Player: Joe Johnson
The Jailblazers are climbing up the rankings, and have started looking like the team we knew they were. The GM isn't 100% pleased, but is easing up on criticizing his team's play a bit.
6. Denver Nuggets
Previous Rank: 12 Change: +6
current record: 15-14
Top Player: Antonio McDyess
The hot streak has begun in Denver. Maybe doubting this team has sparked a fire under their butts. This team is improving every sim, and look for them to climb up our rankings.
7. Phoenix Suns
Previous Rank: 2 Change: -5
current record: 15-13
Top Player: Dwight Howard
Dark clouds have popped up in Phoenix as of late. The Suns started hot, no pun intended, but have cooled off since. Like most teams at the bottom of the West they are young. They could be destined to join those teams soon.
8. San Antonio Spurs
Previous Rank: 11 Change: +3
current record: 13-13
Top Player: Emeka Okafor
A better all around play from this club, but are they playoff material?
9. Dallas Mavericks
Previous Rank: 10 Change:+1
current record: 12-12
Top Player: Rasheed Wallace
The Mavericks are playing better, but we are not sure they are playoff material just yet.
10. Utah Jazz
Previous Rank: 6 Change:-4
current record: 11-11
Top Player: Dajuan Wagner
The Jazz are young, and it shows. This team is built for the future, not the now.
11. Houston Rockets
Previous Rank: 9 Change: -2
current record: 11-12
Top Player: Vince Carter
The Rockets struggled and have toppled downward in our rankings. The Houston GM has a solid core, but it may not be enough with the other powerhouses in the West.
12. Vancouver Grizzlies
Previous Rank: 7 Change: -5
current record: 13-16
Top Player: Sofoklis Schortsanitis
The Grizzlies have slipped as of late, as their youth is showing through.
13. Sacramento Kings
Previous Rank: 13 Change: N/A
current record: 6-14
Top Player: Josh Smith
The play of the Kings has not gotten better. The GM thought it would be a winning season, so far, it isn't.
14. Los Angeles Clippers
Previous Rank: 14 Change: N/A
current record: 11-22
Top Player: Quentin Richardson
We don't have a joke this time around. The record says it all. This team is in bad shape.
We will continue to update the rankings as the season progresses, so stay tuned to see how this all plays out.
