Andrea Bargnani PF 7'0'' 240 21 B- B C- B- C A
One of the most promising players coming into the SSBL since 2003, Bargnani has been called many things ranging from Dirk 2.0 to Detlef Schrempf at best - which isn't all bad in itself. Bargnani has one of the best jumpshots in the class, and is working on his range, which is already SSBL distance. Is not known for taking over games, so he will probably not be known as a superstar quality player, however he will be seen as a player that a team cannot be without. Great scorer in the post, with an array of moves to get by his defender. Lightning quick for a 7 footer. Decent shotblocker. Needs to work on rebounding and man-to-man defense, as he was mainly exposed to zone defense his entire playing career in Europe.
Al Jefferson PF 6'10'' 265 21 B C- D- B- B A
Jefferson is a strong, physical low-post presence. He has excellent interior moves and good strength. Jefferson has good footwork and is a better athlete than given credit for. Jefferson has the potential to be an excellent power forward at the next level. If he can keep his weight in check, he has the perfect physique for the position. Furthermore, Jefferson has underrated agility and is developing a nice drop step with his back to the basket.
Vladimir Veremeenko PF 6'10'' 240 22 C+ B D- C C B
Draws comparisons to Vladimir Radmanovic in many ways - most notably his shooting ability. Strong body that affects his quickness. Not a great athlete by any means. Pure shooter, and his positioning on the offensive end means he rarely gets an offensive rebound, although he is a very capable defensive rebounder.
Loukas Mavrokefalidis PF 6'11'' 260 23 C+ C+ C B- C B
Another Euro who may be better suited to play the small forward considering his offensive abilities. Can shoot the ball, however does not have the range Veremeenko does. Good post scoring ability, and a good shot blocker. One of the strongest players in the draft, but not a good leaper. Solid man-to-man defender.
Edin Bavcic PF 6'11'' 245 20 C+ D D+ C B- A
The first thing that stands out his is inability to jump. Bavcic has nearly no vertical leap and it affects his game in a variety of ways. He struggles rebounding the ball, blocking shots, and gaining position in the post on offense. Regardless, he has a silky smooth touch around the rim and can easily score double digits points in a few minutes. If he wants a spot in a rotation, he NEEDS to work on his defensive game.
Damir Markota PF 6'10'' 225 21 B- C- C- C+ B- A
Prototypical bigman prospect - good jumper to go with solid post offensive skills. Fairly quick for his long frame. Good shot blocking instincts. Great offensive rebounder. Strong body, very lean. Overall, Markota should be a first round pick, albeit a late one.
Tyrus Thomas PF 6'8'' 220 20 B- C- C- B C+ B
Hands down the most athletic player in the draft. Thomas can jump through the roof, and keep going. Decent ball handler, but rarely makes a good pass. Also worked on his rebounding in his few years in college. He is an instinctual shot blocker and defensive menace. Fairly quick, and definitely strong. His jumpshot may need work, as of right now it is very inconsistent. Any team that drafts Thomas should be looking for defense now, and offense later.
Tim Parham PF 6'9'' 240 23 C+ C D+ C C+ C
Parham can score, and rebound the ball with ease some games - where as most other games he is typically a non-factor. Average defensive ability with no shot blocking ability. Slow feet. Bad hands. Not very strong despite his weight. Has a decent jumpshot with some range, but nothing reliable.
Steve Novak PF 6'9'' 220 22 C+ B- D C C+ B
Novak is similar, but has a much better jumpshot. Novak can easily step out and knock down 3's all night, and he certainly knows this. Even though he spends most of his time shooting from the outside, Novak is very good around the basket with a nice set of back to the basket moves. Defense is nonexistent. Good rebounder. Good strength. Could be a decent player someday.
Shelden Williams PF 6'9'' 260 23 C+ D+ F+ C+ B+ B
Shelden Williams, aka "The Landlord" can and will own the paint. His huge frame and great strength allow him to dominate the boards. Probably the strongest player in the draft. Imposing player on defense, but rarely blocks a shot. On offense, he has a good touch around the basket, but nothing that could be seen as dominating - with most of his points coming off put backs.
Paul Millsap PF 6'7'' 260 21 B- D+ D C+ B A
Interesting player standing at 6'7", while playing like a true power foward. Millsap could play small foward, but really lacks the speed needed to keep up. It will be a tough transition for Millsap, however his skills are nearly identical to those of Raptor Center Danny Fortson. Instinctual offensive rebounder, excellent post scorer. Not known for defense but does manage to play hard every night. Another ox in the post. He and Shelden Williams would be rebound vacuum cleaners for a team playing next to each other.
Paul Davis PF 6'11'' 270 22 B- D+ D C+ B- A
Great scorer. Averaged over 20 points a night in his last year. Very strong. Not too athletic, but enough to get by. Needs to work on footwork, especially on defense. Decent shotblocker. Needs to work on his jumpshot.
Oleksiy Pecherov PF 7'0'' 210 21 C+ C D+ C+ C+ A
Russian prospect that can do a little of everything on the floor. Especially known for being a rare 7 footer with a 3 point shot. Good scorer inside, and his long arms have allowed him to perfect a signature jump hook. Has the potential to be an efficient scorer on a team needing depth. Good shot blocker. Horrible offensive rebounder.
Louis Amundson PF 6'9'' 225 24 C+ D F+ B C+ B
Pure hustle bundled into a 6'9" player. Comparable to Chris Andersen without the shot blocking abilities. No jumpshot. Should never have the ball in his hands for more than a few seconds. Very strong and active, especially on the glass. Decent athlete. Will block shots and steal the ball a couple times per game. Could get better in the SSBL.
Leon Powe PF 6'8'' 240 22 B- D+ D- B- C+ C
Another very active player, Powe is one of the best athletes in the class. A great leaper with undoubted strength, Powe uses size and quickness to score tons in the post. He needs to work on rebounding and focus on defense a little better, but overall, Powe is a solid prospect.
Joel Freeland PF 6'10'' 225 19 B- C D+ C+ C+ B
Bigman with a jumpshot. Has range, but inconsistent at best. Not known for shotblocking, but uses good IQ to get position down low against his opponents making him an effective defender at times. Pretty good athlete.
James Augustine PF 6'10'' 230 22 B- C- C- C+ C+ C
Excellent post scorer - will dump points in a hurry. Good shot blocker, but terrible man-to-man defender. Needs to work on positioning when rebounding the ball, and is not very strong. Overally, can put up points in a hurry, if you can take his defensive and rebounding woes.
Craig Smith PF 6'7'' 260 23 B- C- D+ B- C+ A
Smith is very similar to Powe in that he uses above average athleticism to score, rebound and defend. Smith is not known for blocking shots, but his strength makes it easy sometimes. Pretty quick for a power forward with his size. Good jumpshot, but does not extend past the free throw line. Better offensive rebounder, than defensive.
Cedric Simmons PF 6'10'' 225 20 B- D+ D B- C+ C
Good athlete. Can and will jump to score a bucket. Great offensive rebounder, and excellent shot blocking ability. Could turn into a reliable role player down the road if a team develops him correctly. Has drawn comparisons to Antonio and Dale Davis.
Alexander Johnson PF 6'9'' 240 23 B- C- D+ C+ C+ F
Very strong athlete. Can score in the post at a good clip. Good shot blocker and rebounder. Good vertical leap, and decent footspeed. He actually has a good jumper including SSBL range, but rarely uses it because of how easy it is for him to gain position down low.
Andray Blatche* PF 6'11'' 235 19 B- C D B C+ A
Could be a good selection for a team that can afford to wait and develop a player. Wiry and athletic, possesses great ball-handling skills for a man of his size. Can put the ball on the floor, face up and score. Averaged 27.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and six blocks per game in high school, but is not yet ready to bang the boards in the paint at the pro level. Touted as a defensive disruptor because of his length and ability to spring off the floor. Improvements must be made on his consistency, as he's been known to dominate one game and disappear the next, but the physical tools are there.
