Here on SSBL Tonight we take a look back at the last ten days on the SSBL calender and round up the best bits.
Day 70
Leading the Break
Seattle Supersonics @ Houston Rockets, we start off with the Sonics heading into Houston to take on the Rockets in a Western Conference battle. The Sonics started off hot in this one behind the stelar play of their backcourt, Jerry Stackhouse and Kobe Bryant. Stackhouse finished the game with a game high 35 points to go with 12 rebounds while Kobe had 34 points and 14 assists. The Sonics would lead all the way to the start of the 4th however the Rockets would begin to fight back. Jamal Mashburn came up big for the Rockets as they would outscore the Sonics by 8 in the forth including a buzzer beating shot by Vince Carter to send the game into overtime. Carter would finish the game with 28 points. The overtime would be close thoughout with a few lead changes. Kobe hit a shot over Wagner to give the Sonics a 123-122 lead with 8 seconds remaining, which would turn out to be the game winner. Carter had the chance to win it for the Rockets but his attempt came up short. Andrew Bogut had a double double for the Rockets including a game high 13 rebounds while the Sonics had 4 players with double digits rebounding numbers. Vladimir Stepania impressed with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks.

He we round up the other games played today. Steve Nash 34 points lead the Hawks over the Wizards 108-130. The impressive Boston Celtics took apart the rebuilding 76ers at home 71-103. The Trailblazers won one at home against the Bucks 98-104. The Lakers needed overtime to beat the Mavericks in a great game at Staples, as the Lakers won 115-119. The Warriors won in Utah 93-84. Thanks to Chris Webber's double double the Magic won at home against the Heat 109-128 while the Bulls beat the Clippers 123-98. Michael Finley's 45 point explosion lead the Pistons past the Cavs 89-127 and the much improved Suns beat in Knicks 97-104.
Hoop Heroes
Michael Finley is our first hoop hero, he scored an impressive 45 points in the Pistons victory over the Cavs. He shot 16-22 from the field including 7-9 from three point range aswell as adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Steve Nash is our second hoop hero, the Hawks veteran point guard had 34 points and 14 assists going up against rookie point guard Deron Williams in Hawks win over the Wizards.

Toronto Raptors @ New York Knicks, we start off the the best in the East in Toronto Raptors in New York taking on the Knicks. This would turn out to be a cracker. Newly aquired small forward/shooting guard Tracy McGrady came to play as he lead all scorers with 40 points aswell as 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The game would be close throughout with the Raptors taking a small lead into the 4th thanks mainly to a team effort with 6 guys finishing the game in double digit scoring numbers lead by Danny Fortson who had 25 points to go with 13 rebounds. As hinted on earlier though this night would belong to Tracy McGrady and the Knicks, firstly he tied the game with 3 seconds left in the 4th to send the game into overtime. McGrady would then go on to score 10 of his 40 points in the overtime period. Dwyane Wade would tie the game at the end of the first overtime period. It was McGrady though who would have the last laugh hitting the go ahead bucket with 5 seconds in the second overtime period to go to give the Knicks a one point lead. Dwyane Wade had the chance to win it but McGrady played great defense to force him into a tough shot. The Knicks would win a thriller 126-127. The Raptors had four players with double doubles, including 20 points and 15 assists for Jason Kidd. Knicks rookie point guard Chris Paul finished with 16 points, 13 assists and 8 rebounds.

The Lakers defeated the Kings 105-93, The Hawks beat the Pacers at home 74-109. The Pistons would win in Miami thanks to Barbosa's 25, 109-95. The Nuggets would crumble in overtime as they fell to the Clippers 113-127, The Blazers win in Charlotte 85-70. Dispite Ray Allen's 31 points the Bulls would lose 100-123 to the 76ers while behind Predrag Stojakovic's 35 points the Magic beat the Bucks in Orlando. The Sonics beat the Jazz 74-82 in the last game of the evening.
Hoop Heroes
Our first hoop hero has to be Tracy McGrady. McGrady stuffed the stat sheet with 40 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals including the game winning shot in double OT in the Knicks thrilling victory over the Raptors. Second hoop hero is the 76ers center Eddy Curry who had a monster night against the Bulls. Curry finished with a triple double including 24 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.

Chicago Bulls @ Boston Celtics, we start off with the red hot Boston Celtics taking on the Chicago Bulls in Boston. A showdown between friends from the 2003 NBA draft Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. Since Shaquille O'Neal has returned from injury Bostons big three of LeBron James, Allen Iverson and O'Neal have been on fire as the Celtics shot up the Eastern rankings. They wouldn't have it all their own way on this night though. Ray Allen one of the best scorers in SSBL finished with a game high 36 points including 4-6 from three point range. The Bulls would go onto win this one 125-110 and had four players scoring over 20 points. Marcus Banks had 23 points while Marcus Moore added 23 point in 22 minutes off the bench. Carmelo Anthony added 22 points to go with 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Shaquille O'Neal had a double double with 17 rebounds and 18 points while LeBron James top scored for the Celtics with 25 points.

Joe Johnson lead the Blazers to a comfortable 125-81 over the Hornets. The Grizzlies won a close one against the Warriors 102-103 while the Cavs beat the 76ers 85-105. The Magic beat the Timberwolves 94-118 in Orlando while the Clippers beat the Lakers 83-109 in the battle of Los Angeles. Behind Antonio McDyess double double the Nuggets beat the Bucks 91-105 and the Pistons held the Suns to 9 points in the 4th as they won 72-91.

Joe Johnson is our first hoop hero. Joe carried on his amazing season here with 44 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds shooting 18-24 from the field including 3-4 from 3 point range in the Blazers win over the Hornets. Our second hoop hero is Antonio McDyess who had a double double with 12 rebounds and 33 points in the Nuggets win over the Bucks.

The Raptors started off well and took a 30-27 lead heading in the 2nd quarter thanks to the play of Jason Kidd and Yao Ming. Kidd would finish the game with 20 points but only 4 assists. The game was close untill the middle of the 3rd then the Celtics really took charge of the game and didn't look back in the end winning it 107-115. The big three finished the game with 25 point or more with O'Neal finished with 12 boards and 25 points, Iverson had 26 points whilst LeBron James lead all scorers with 33 to go with 13 assists. Darko Milicic also added 17 rebounds and 5 blocked shots for the Celtics. Danny Fortson had a double double for the Raptors with 23 points and 12 rebounds, Shareef Abdur-Rahim also had a double double.

Despite Olowokandi's 33 points the Clippers lost one at home to the Timberwolves 108-101. The Heat beat the Bucks 101-91, while the Suns lose to the Mavs 99-87 at home. The Pistons defeat the Hawks 96-112 behind Mike Miller's 32 points. The Lakers beat the Pacers 96-127 while the Nuggets defeated the Spurs 73-117. Thanks to Elton Brand's big night the Hornets defeated the Wizards 94-85. The Kings defeated the Rockets 92-95 while the Knicks defeated the Cavs 96-94. The Magic beat the Jazz in Utah 89-83 while the Blazers beat the 76ers 109-97.
