Bored, at work on a pointless day at work. I hope the snow let's us all go home early.
Anyways, here are some fun facts about some random SSBL stuff....
The Knicks are the only teams in SSBL4 history to never have been to the playoffs (source). The Sonics actually never did until last year. But with CP3, Amar'e, and Okafor as their future, you gotta expect good things for the Big Apple.....right? Or maybe the franchise is cursed? They are currently at 7-20 and CP dropping to C+ C+ scoring was pretty unexpected.
"There's always next year..."
On the flip side, 3 teams that have made the playoffs every single season.. Those three are the Lakers, Nuggets, and Kings (the West elite?). Before last year's playoffs, the Bucks and Spurs would have been part of that mix as well (6 playoff appearances for those franchises). Of those five teams, three teams have won it all (Bucks, Spurs, and Kings).
The Houston Rockets have had more GM's than total trades made. (source)
Houston Rockets
original GM: rampage
2nd GM: xxlboricua23lxx
3rd GM: allstar0608
4th GM: kober
5th GM: crutches
6th GM: buffaloblue
Completed trades: 4
I can probably name the 4 trades off the top of my head without looking it up. 1) the Trade that brought Vince Carter over... 2) The trade that brought Scott Pollard over... 3) The trade that sent Pollard packing last year. Okay I guess I could only name 3. The organization has just been really unlucky with inactive GMs. Hope fully Buff can turn them around....I hope
"There's always next year..."
Seven players that have been with the same team from the start:
-Stephon Marbury, NJN
-Kevin Garnett, MIN
-Antonio McDyess, DEN
-Chauncey Billups, DEN
-Johnny Taylor, DEN
-Michael Olowokandi, LAC
-Lorenzen Wright, LAC
Loyal players? or do the GMs really love their players that much?
Kidd and SAR are all smiles in TOR
Jason Kidd is a pretty damn good player. For his career, he averages 23.5 PPG, 10.9 APG, 6.1 RPG. And check out his trophy case:
1998 - All-Star Game Participant
1998 - All-League Third Team
1998 - All-Defensive Team
1999 - All-Star Game Participant
1999 - All-Star Game MVP
2000 - All-Star Game Participant
2000 - Most Valuable Player
2000 - All-League First Team
2000 - All-Defensive Second Team
2001 - All-Star Game Participant
2001 - Most Valuable Player
2001 - All-League First Team
2001 - All-Defensive Second Team
2001 - Playoff MVP
2002 - All-Star Game Participant
2002 - All-League First Team
2002 - All-Defensive Second Team
2003 - All-Star Game Participant
2003 - Most Valuable Player
2003 - All-League First Team
2003 - All-Defensive Second Team
2003 - Playoff MVP
2004 - All-Star Game Participant
2004 - All-League Second Team
And each time he was traded, it was simply because the previous GM "just decided it was time to rebuild." Man I wanted to get a taste of that soup when it was hot....missed out.
ok that's it for now.
