I figured maybe we could switch the old style and try something new for the anticipation thread. Perhaps it will be a yearly thing! EVERYONE pick ONE team (other than your own of course, and I'll strike it out each time a team gets picked) and tell what you think that team will do for this season! If everyone participates, everyone can see what another person thought of their team! So, let's see some activity on here and everyone PICK A TEAM!!!If everyone doesn't participate and pick a team after a couple days, the guys that did can pick another team just so it all gets finished. Happy Predicting! Atlantic DivisionBoston Celtics - JCarter (Atlanta) Miami Heat - afro (Vancouver) New Jersey Nets New York Knicks - mgcoug (Seattle) Orlando Magic Philadelphia 76ers Washington Wizards - ray (Orlando) Central DivisionAtlanta Hawks Charlotte Hornets Chicago Bulls Cleveland Cavaliers Detroit Pistons - Mr. Stephens (Toronto) Indiana Pacers Milwaukee Bucks Toronto Raptors - runngunallday (Boston) Midwest DivisionDallas Mavericks - MP (Portland) Denver Nuggets Houston Rockets Minnesota Timberwolves San Antonio Spurs Utah Jazz Vancouver Grizzlies - Jeb (Detroit) Pacific DivisionGolden State Warriors Los Angeles Clippers Los Angeles Lakers - will (Lakers) Phoenix Suns - m00sey (New York) Portland Trailblazers Sacramento Kings Seattle Supersonics

I'll also write the name of the GM that wrote about each team next to the team name.

Boston Celtics
After that deal with the Grizz, Scary. I thought they were a solid team before, but after that deal, probably the favorites in the East along with Orlando. If they can fill that PF spot with a nice veteran, they will be really scary.

thanks dude. you & orlando will be big obstacles on my way to the finals but hopefully my team clicks and whoops you both. raptors have a real nice core as well but im not sure if they're perennial contenders just yet. the heat are probably going to be the underdog team and the pistons are a frontcourt away from being dangerous as well.
in the west if the lakers click on the defensive end they'll probably cruise to the finals unless the wolves stop them. but then u cant underestimate a handful of other teams such as the nuggets, etc either who all have very capable rosters and good franchise players.

I'll take the Raptors, They made some very nice deals, tough to lose Smith but Yao is a huge addition. Kaman, Fortson and Yao make a very nice frontcourt. Harpring, SAR and Wade are a great swingman trio and Pac man still looks like a top pg. They could be one of the top teams in the East if they find the right lineup. Its really about chemistry for them.
Ooops didn't see that above, I'll take the Suns. Looks like another lottery season for them, but with a solid young pg, sg they could be a deadly team in years to come. Duhon looks nice but is he a long term piece to build around at the pg position? Howard is a defensive stud, Jin looks to be coming along and Granger looks like a ROY candidate.

This is going pretty good!
Detroit Pistons
The team that always seems to be rebuilding in the beginning, and then goes all in toward the end of the season to get a decent playoff spot. They've got a solid future in my eyes, but they should probably cash in on Finley and Grant for that matter while they still has some value. Finley is a huge expiring who can still play and Grant is signed to a very reasonable 3 year 18 million dollar deal. They could both net some nice young prospects.
A very solid young core with Gortat, Turkoglu, Barbosa and Fran Vasquez overseas - along with some nice cheap bench pieces like Miller, Battie and Luis Scola. Leandro has become one of the better PG's in the league, and it wouldn't surprise me if he leads the Pistons to another playoff berth this year, even with the emergence of some new powers in the East.

Dallas is a team that is interest to me. After the big offseason haul of Szymon Szewczyk and Jarvis Hayes they still look a little weak. This will be a long year for the Mavericks as their best bet is to key the gives to sophomore point guard Shaun Livingston and let whatever happens happen. Their second best player is the back up point guard Kirk Hinrich who should be dealt due to lack of need on the roster, they would be better served getting a player who fits the team.
In the front court they have decent players, but nothing that stands out. They should copy what the 76ers did last year, build up player value and try to get something for them.
Overall the year will be long for the Mavs but at least they have their first.

Heat...This team has very nice mix of young players (Nelson, Richardson, Zack) and solid veteran players (Sheed, Spree, and JO). They're coming off a great season where their GM was able to capture the GM of the year award. Right now the heat are considered to be one of better teams in league by many but are a piece or two away from being a legit championship caliber team. They're strength is their depth and their ability to have a different player beat you on any given night.
The player to watch out for this season will Jameer Nelson who is coming off a solid rookie season. We except to see his scoring numbers to go up to around 15-16 ppg this season.

I've tried with Fin and Grant but they wont net me much that will be good for me... Anyways... Big Sofo love fest time Vancouvers Grizzlies Well, it's the end of the era in Canada with the Griz, they got good value for Shaq, Big Sofo could well end up making Shaq a distant memory in Vancouver. He's only 20 years old, reallly hasnt had much work done on his rebounding but that is the only fault I can find with his game, he passes pretty nicely for a big fella dishing out two assists a game his rookie year. Also in the deal with Boston, Afro got back his first round pick. In my eyes this isnt really worth another future HOF guy in Iverson however this lets Afro move the third member of his big three(kidd) for another nice young part. Look for a long year for this squad but for the true big Sofo to show his colors.

Los Angeles Lakers
Watch out, if they don't win it all this year are they ever going to? Duncan, Webber and Dirk in the frontcourt, wow that is some frontcourt, no one's going stop that. Then you got Francis giving them a scoring threat at the guard spot. Only small problem I see is Stepp starting but he's a solid guy himself. If they get a little more quality bench depth can't see anyone else beating them.

Washington Wizards
Carlos is making it known that Deron is here to stay. Thus, Mo is very available. He's the Wiz's best scorer with B- A- scoring, I think he will or should move him for a young big or hang onto him to increase his stock until someone is in need of a score-first PG. The Wiz also have a shit ton of players with mediocre scoring (B- B- 's almost everywhere) and I can tell he really wishes Salmons would actually improve in a TC for once, but that hasn't happened. But Deron is the perfect guy to build a team around so for now, the slow rebuild will remain....uhh...slow unless some magical camps make Outlaw and CV studs overnight
