I was sitting cross legged on my bed when all of the sudden I jumped to a striking pain in the arch of my foot. It was local, and on the surface of my skin specifically, so it's not a muscle cramp or anything.
The only way I can describe it, is that it feels like someone is taking the cherry of their cigarette and pushing it down into the skin of my foot for a few quick seconds in the same exact spot and then the pain goes away quickly. I didn't put anything on it at first as the pain was slightly crippling just from the pure shock and lack of awareness of what the hell was causing this. It hurt to move my foot around due to pulling of the skin in the area, and to put any weight on it presumably for the same reason.
I'm worried about it being some sort of freak spider bite, (my worst nightmare points to a brown recluse and the irreversible hole eaten away from my foot) but I can't find a single thing that matches my feeling of being burned quickly in small increments on google. Not to mention I live in Western New York, and it's the dead of winter.
A little more about it: The immediate area of the pain is red and slightly swollen. Ironically, the only thing I can compare it to right now size wise is a normal BIC lighter. Pain has either subsided since it first happened, or I have just gotten used to the feeling. It was literally something that made me jump right off my bed. Since I've been able to walk I've also put some caladryl topical analgesic on the red area, and have rubbed it down with an ice cube.
Anyone come across something like this/experienced this/treated or healed this?
