Danny Granger SF 6'8'' 225 22 B- B C+ B C+ A
Certain lottery pick, is a versatile athlete with exceptional skills and an SSBL body. Can play four positions. May be underrated because of lack of exposure from playing at New Mexico. Played mostly inside for the Lobos, but has the talent to score from the perimeter. Averaged 18.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game as a senior. Could become a top defender in the SSBL. Incredible blocking ability and a top notch vertical. Has amazing mechanics on his jumpshot and an excellent free throw shooter. Unlike most shooters, does not always settle for the jumper. Very mature and has a high basketball IQ. Does a lot of things very well. Excellent passer. Despite his age, the kid still has incredible potential.
WILDCARD ENTRANT Rudy Gay SF 6'8'' 225 19 B- C+ C B C A
Considering a return to UConn for a sophomore stint. Many believe he could be selected in the top ten of the 2005 draft if he stays. Considered as one of the most athletic players in the draft, Gay is still an enigma to many SSBL scouts. There are times where his explosiveness to the basket makes pro personnel drool, and then there are times he will disappear for two or three games at a time. Averaged 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in his Freshman year. His potential is incredible and he could become one of the best forwards in the game within 5 years. Excellent defender, especially with stats. Is very well known for chasing a man down on the fast break to block his shot.
Marvin Williams SF 6'9'' 230 19 B- C+ C- B- C+ A
Many say he has the potential to be a superstar in the SSBL, however some also question how well his skills will translate to the pro's. Defense could be his weak point in the pros as he has trouble guarding stronger forwards, yet lacks the speed to keep up with quicker fowards. Offensive game is polished. Can hit the 3 with ease, and can also score with his back to the basket. An athletic freak. Good passer when double teamed, but needs to work on ball handling. Averaged 11.3 points and 6.6 rebounds on a Tar Heels team full of upperclassmen. An incredible rebounder with great instincts.
Hakim Warrick SF 6'9'' 215 23 B- C C- B C B
Warrick possesses an interesting skill set, with the height of a power foward and agility of a small forward. Should play SF in the SSBL. Can defend both the perimeter, but excels in the low block with his freakish wingspan and shot blocking ability. Great leaper and shotblocker. Has excellent range and mechanics on his jumper for his size, and can hit the 3 on occasion even though he isn't known for it. Lacks any bulk and could get pushed around down low on both ends. Terrible ball handler. Needs to work on dribbling. Great movement without the ball on the fast break and can throw down a thunderous dunk. Is frequently on the receiving end of an alley-oop. Uses his athleticism to rebound very well, despite a lack of strength.
Yaroslav Korolev SF 6'9'' 203 18 B- C+ B- C+ C A
Very interesting prospect. Considered more of a "point-forward" than anything as he possesses incredible court vision and passing ability. Great ability to drive from the perimeter, while also being able to create his own shot. One of the better scorers in the draft. Offensively gifted for sure. Has trouble with maturity being only 18 years old, yet has been called a "sponge" by former coaches. Could be defensively challenged throughout his career as it's obvious where his effort lies. That said, is a great help defender being a decent shot blocker with quick hands. Great athlete overall with a respectable combination of speed, hops and strength.
Ndudi Ebi SF 6'9'' 195 21 C+ C C B C+ A
After deciding to stay at Arizona for another year, Ebi has fine tuned his defensive skills to become one of the better defenders in the draft. Lack of foot speed often allows opposing players to blow by him. Better suited defensively on the low block with his long arms and irritating style. Like Warrick, uses his athleticism to crash the boards with great skill. Offensive game still very raw. Does a lot of things well. Plays like a power forward in his frail body. Makes up for lack of strength with his great leaping ability. Very quick for his size, but lacks any real ball distribution skill. Does not have a reliable jumpshot, but can have a good game. Can occasionally step out behind the 3 point line and knock one down with success, if WIDE OPEN. Good potential, however his age could play a role in his upside.
OVERSEAS (4 Years - Real Madrid, Spain)Axel Hervelle SF 6'8'' 235 22 B- C C B- C B
Another very interesting prospect. While he doesn't excel in any aspect of the game, he doesn't have a weakness either. Good scoring ability, works inside out during the course of a game. Great jumpshot mechanics. Excellent at driving to the hoop and drawing fouls. Good free throw shooter. Great ball handler for his position but has trouble successfully finding the open man. An all around good defender, can defend 4 positions. Great athlete. Combines a lot of skills into a near perfect mold of a SF. Could become a dependable player off the bench. Is still playing out 4 more years in Spain for Real Madrid, however the contract is negotiable. While he is 22, many believe his lack of exposure in Spain has led to his potential still being very good.
OVERSEAS (1 year - Real Madrid)Mickael Gelebale SF 6'7'' 215 22 B- C C B C B
Hervelle's teammate for Real Madrid, Gelebale only has 1 year remaining on his contract with the Spanish club. Great athlete with good size for his position. Great penetrator. Consistent jumper with good range, but should not take a pro-distance 3 pointer. A tenacious defender with quick feet. Good work ethic. Can defend shooting guards and small forwards. Needs to add bulk and strength. May have trouble defending the bigger small forwards in the SSBL. Doesn't possess great ball-handling skills and lacks good instincts, sometimes passing up open shots. Averaging 8.0 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 61 percent from the field for Real Madrid. Could very well end up as good as he is now.
Linas Kleiza SF 6'8'' 250 20 C+ C+ C C+ C+ B
The native of Lithuanian spent two seasons at Missouri and led the Tigers with 16.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in 2004-05. Was a star for his home country at the World Junior Championships in 2003, averaging 29.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. Has never played for a very competitive team, yet still possesses a winning edge. Not very athletic at all, can be described as stiff on both ends. Would fit in well in a fast paced offense with his scoring ability. A tough player with soft hands and strong offensive skills. Slow hands on defense leads to quick fouls. Not a good shot blocker, yet no surprise because of his height. Needs better conditioning. Great instincts and an amazing team leader. Puts his teammates on his back if needed late in games. Very clutch performer during the WJ Championships. Can score with his back to the basket. Can hit the 3. Get get on a hot streak real quick, yet can also go games without being an impact at all. Can get a lot better if he puts the work in.
Ersan Illyasova SF 6'9'' 235 18 B- C+ C B- C B
Native of Uzbekistan handles the ball extremely well for his size. Natural feel for the game and perimeter skills are impressive for such an inexperienced player. Tougher than most European players, but somewhat weak physically. Needs to add muscle in his upper body in order to bang down low. Excellent scorer from inside the arc with great penetration abilities and a solid jumpshot with good range. Great rebounding instincts on the defensive end. Overall solid defender on the perimeter, but is virtually non-existent down low because of his inability to block shots. Very good lateral speed for his size and does a good job staying in front of his opponent. Average ball handler. His potential might be enough for teams to take a chance on him fairly early.
Dijon Thompson SF 6'7'' 200 22 C+ C+ C B C B
Very similar player to his old teammate Trevor Ariza who was drafted last year. Good mechanics all aspects of the game, but excels at help defense. Pesky hands reach in often for steals and has an average shot blocking ability due to his vertical leap. Needs to get stronger. Excellent leaper and ball handler. Very quick which allows him to guard the three perimeter positions. Good at getting to the rim and drawing fouls. Very solid jumpshot but has limited range. Despite his size, can rebound fairly well. Could have hit his ceiling as a senior at UCLA. Can provide help right away.
Joey Graham SF 6'7'' 225 23 C+ C D+ B C B
Prototypical hustler. An excellent athlete, which overshadows his lack of an offensive game. A lockdown defender, tough nosed and ruthless. Can hit the jumper, and is a great finisher on drives to the rim. Has no back to the basket game. Should never lead the fast break as he is a terrible ball handler. Very strong and can match up with bigger players. Great hands on defense and a great leaper. His age could be a problem with how much he can grow and learn from the SSBL. Known as "Good-Joey, Bad-Joey" because of his tendency to have a great game, and then disappear. Struggles with maturity.
Sean Banks SF 6'8'' 210 20 C+ C- C B C B
Stock fell after he decided to stay at Memphis for a sophomore stint, then was declared academically ineligible after ten games. Banks was averaging 14.5 points and 5.8 rebounds before losing his eligibility. A great athlete who is fluid and an aggressive scorer. Adept at taking his man off the dribble as well as pulling up for a mid-range jumper. Good leaping ability and runs the floor well. Sometimes settles for an outside shot. Needs to add bulk and strength to compete at the next level. Only an average rebounder, defender and passer for a player with his ability. Despite defensive woes, will get steals and block shots during the game because of his athletic ability.
WILDCARD ENTRANTRicky Sanchez SF 6'11'' 220 18 C B C C+ C- B
Struggling to find his place in the draft, Sanchez is still undecided. He's got a good foundation, but could just be out of his league with the SSBL. Great jumpshot, and excellent range. Can easily hit the 3. Very one dimensional on defense. Average leaper. Needs to add strength and lots of it. Very wiry 6'11". Very quick.
Matt Walsh SF 6'6'' 220 23 C+ C+ C B- C C
Led the Gators in 3-point accuracy, making 42.6 percent, and finished second on the team in scoring at 14.6 points per game. Helped Florida earn its first Southeastern Conference title in March, earning tournament MVP honors. Has a good all-around game and is good from the perimeter, where he has modest SSBL 3-point range. Ball-handling skills allow him to play point-forward. Good instincts. Prefers to shoot from the outside, but can put the ball on the floor and beat his man. Has quick feet, but scouts question whether he has the athleticism to defend in the SSBL.
Anderson Ferreira SF 6'10'' 210 20 C C+ C- C+ C+ C
Has the ability to hit the open 3, and is automatic from inside the arc. Has never played against any real competition, coming from a Junior College. However, is still a good athlete, and could be worth sending to a developmental league for fine tuning.
