Updated D-League Rules

SSBL4 will feature a D-League to develop young players. There will be several rules for designating a player on your team to the SSBL D-League.

Basic Rules

Deadlines for designations:
Sim 1 (free) and Sim 7 ($200)

-Each team is allowed ONE player in the D-League at a time.
-Any single player may be sent to the D-League up to TWICE in his career.

FIRST TIMERS:
-Player must be under 25 and a rookie or soph in the current year.
-Player cannot have been selected in the top 13 (Lotto).
-A total of 8 pts (2 pts max per any category) will be added to a player's ratings after 30 days (3 sims) after being assigned to your team's D-League affiliated team.
+5 pts to True Potential added upon spending an entire year in the D-League. +3 True Pot if assigned at ASW and stayed the remainder of the season.

SECOND TIMERS:
-Player must be under 25.
-A total of 5 points instead of 8 points to be added after 3 sims.
-No potential added in their 2nd time in the D-League

-The player must remain on the IR for the entire season to "stay in" the D-League (to be elligible to get a +5 pot)
-The player must remain on the IR from Sim 7-12 if assigned at ASW in order to be elligible for +3 pot

-You may trade this player if you have to, but if you do it in season, he will no longer be on your team's affiliated D-League team.

CALL-UPS
-A player may be called-up any time during the regular season, as long as he was assigned prior to Sim 1.
-Each time a player is called up FROM the D-League during the regular season, his loyalty gets a +5, but he then becomes only eligible for a +2 potential bonus at the end of the year. (He will have already received his +2's in the categories though if he spend at least 30 days in the DLeague).
-If a player gets called up FROM the D-League and gets REASSIGNED to the D-League that same season, he does not get a +5 loyalty, and then stays in the D-League the rest of the year. He then is elligible for a +3 to true pot instead of +5
-The Deadline for re-assigning a player to the DLeague is the Trade Deadline.

DELETED THIS RULE Experience factor:
-If the player spent an entire season in the D-League (no call-ups), Experience is reset (to zero or whatever number it was before) at the start of the next offseason
-If he spent any time at all on your roster (either called-up and remained, or called-up and reassigned), his experience will change +1 the next offseason like normal.

Too Confusing? Examples::
-in 2004, Magic assign Jason Kapono (27th overall, '03 draft) to the New Mexico Thunderbirds prior to Sim 1
-He is eligible because he is a 2nd year player, wasn't selected in the top 13
-Before or after TC doesn't matter as long as he was assigned before Sim 1
-I get to choose +2 to any category, max of +8 pts total added on Day31 of the season.
-On day 40 of the season, I get any injury to one of my guys and want to call-up Kapono. He gets a +5 loyalty. But then I'm not happy with his performance and send him back down at ASW.
-the +5 loyalty is reset back to what it was but he is then elligible for a +3 to true potential for remaining in the DLeague the rest of the season.

-Springfield Armor (Nets, Knicks, 76ers)
-Austin Toros (Spurs)
-Bakersfield Jam (Clippers, Lakers)
-Idaho Stampede (Nuggets, Trail Blazers)
-New Mexico Thunderbirds (Magic)
-Reno Bighorns (Warriors, Kings)
-Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Rockets)
-Texas Legends (Mavericks)
-Utah Flash (Hawks, Jazz)

just to clarify...

you CAN sign someone from FA and assign them to your DLeague affiliated team AS LONG AS THEY ARE A ROOKIE OR A SOPHOMORE....they get the 8pts and are elligible for +5 or +3 potential but is kinda stupid since you don't have birds and probably can't/won't re-sign him in the next offseason unless you have cap

If he goes to the D league, I see he gets +5 pot at seasons end, but does he lose pot while he is in the D league?

Also, I see his experience is 0 if he stays in the D league for the whole season. Does that mean if I draft a rookie, and he spends 2 years in the D league, he starts his rookie contract his third year, or he will already be in the third year of his contract?

1) no, no potential is lost

2) no, his rookie contract does not begin his third year. he will be paid like an SSBL player as listed on your roster. if he spends 2 full seasons in the D-League, and has never played an SSBL game, his rookie year begins his 3rd paid season. Hope that's not too confusing. It is not to be confused with overseas players

OK! EFFECTIVE NOW, YOU MAY SEND SOMEONE TO THE D-LEAGUE IF THAT PLAYER MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS

From here on out, you may assign someone to the D-League (for his first/second stint) at the starting of the season, and then again at ASW. Assigning someone at ASW will cost $200.

Call-Ups and re-assignments may occur before/after any sim.

Preseason is okay. Just be sure to put it in your dleague post and change them to IR on sim 1 DC

Under the "assign 8 points", list the categories and how much you want the points to go to. The 8 points get added AFTER the entire reg. season and playoffs are over!"

This differs from line 1 of Basic Rules found in the first post of this thread which states that the 8 points are added immediately after the player is assigned to their Dleague team. I would assume the latter supersedes the initial but I am not sure.

wow yeah I can see why it is confusing. I add the 8 pts when i lock the designation thread (before sim 1)

(which kinda doesnt make sense...since if you think about it, they havent played in the d-league at all)
