Lets take a look at the accolades:
Named Speice Tourney MVP in 2002.
Named to the All-Tournament team at the 2002 Big Time Tournament.
Named MVP at the June 2003 NBA Players' Association Camp.
Named MVP at the ABCD Camp in 2003.
Led Peoria Central HS to the Illinois Class AA state title in 2003 and 2004.
Named MVP at the EA Sports Roundball Classic in 2004.
Selected to the McDonald's All-America Game in 2004.
Named Illinois Mr. Basketball in 2004.
Strengths:
Livingston’s greatest strength is that he’s a 6-foot-7 true point guard, combining excellent height with a playmaker’s mindset to produce a player who’s been compared to Magic Johnson. Livingston is really a magician with the basketball, possessing stunning court vision and superior ball-handling skills. And unlike most 6-7 guys who can play the point but are really combo guards, he’s a pure point guard with a knack for making his teammates better. Even on defense, his length will allow him to bother smaller point guards with his wingspan. His court vision is out of this world. The fact he possesses an excellent shooting touch and can score off the dribble is really gravy. His game has a real flair to it.
Weaknesses:
There's no question he needs to get physically stronger, but right now that's the only real knock on his game. He's not quite as quick or athletic as you'd like, but uses his length to make up for that. He can be unselfish to a fault. He's a good scorer but sometimes refuses to get into the flow. He’s also not a jump-out-of-the-gym athlete who’ll blow you away with his athleticism. And though he’s an excellent passer, his jump shot and scoring ability need some improvement.
Potential:
Livingston could be very well a top three pick from this draft if he lives us to his potential. His ability as a point guard should set up the Blazers shooters for years to come. He should rank in the top ten each year in assist and steals. The Blazers don't need him to be a great scorer, they have that already.
