We will take a look at the shooting guard class for the Eastern Conference.
Eastern Conference
Projected Starter
Eddie Jones Atlanta Hawks
current stats: 26.4ppg 4.7rpg 3.6apg 2.9spg 1.6tpg
Jones represents the Hawks in the ASG. He is a top 5 scorer in the league. He leads his club and scoring and is a big reason why they are a top East team. He was on the Kings roster not too long ago, but was traded to the East. The change of scenery hasn't hurt his production by any means. He trails his teammate Payton for the lead in steals around the league.
The Competition
Ron Artest New Jersey Nets
current stats: 19.7ppg 7.3rpg 3.4apg 1.7spg 3.6tpg
Artest isnt known as a true SG, but plays it effectively for the Nets. He is a very solid rebounder. He needs to cut down the turnovers, to be looked at a serious starting candidate. Artest should be strongly considered for the reserve SG spot.
John Salmons Washington Wizards
current stats: 21.3ppg 5.8rpg 3.2apg 2.1spg 1.5tpg
Salmons can score the ball and should be a strong candidate for the reserve spot. He is the only backcourt option that is a solid contributor for the mediocre Wizards. Salmons is till young and has alot of room to grow and become a solid All Star option in the league. A change of scenery may help him though.
Michael Finley Detroit Pistons
current stats 17.6ppg 9.1apg 5.8rpg 1.6spg 3.2tpg
Finley can pass the ball, no doubt there. He currently sits in the top 10 in assists. He may not get the reserve spot, but should not be taken lightly. The pistons may need to think about putting him at PG from now on. He lacks the scoring punch the others possess, but is still a very solid player and is the leader in the backcourt for this middle of the road team.
Dwyane Wade Toronto Raptors
current stats: 19.8ppg 5.9rpg 3.9apg 1.6spg 3.8tpg
Wade is a rookie, but can light it up. he is on a bad team yes, but his scoring cant be denied. Some may wonder if he could put up similar stats on a better team, but for now he is the man in Toronto. He needs to work on his ball handling skills, since his turnover rate is horrendous. Wade should be a top scorer in the league within a few years. He wont be an All-Star for a few years as well.
