Warriors Off-Season Outlook
The Warriors are amidst the off-season and will look to improve their roster with talent. We just completed the first couple days of free agency and the Warriors came up empty handed. They were putting a hefty price tag on Vince Carter. Carter would have been a nice piece that compliments Antawn Jamison. Carter took more money and as found a home in Houston. With the lack of signings thus far, Golden State may head into the new season with a thin roster. GM Williams will try and spread the remaining cash out and fill roster spots. He feels that in order to be a threat out West he needs 2 solid scoring options. The Warriors had that last year, but are now lacking one. Rick Fox was a big time scorer for the Warriors last year, but finds himself teamless. Despite previous reports around the league, GM Williams loves Rick Fox. Fox is a solid scorer and bring leadership to the team. GM Williams wasn't a huge fan of Fox's contract so wanted to shed that money off the roster. With some cap to play with look for GM Williams to try and persuade Fox back to the West Coast.
As the roster stands now, the Warriors are pretty young team. They are led by Antawn Jamison. Jamison is slated to play the SF position unless a filler can be found. The Warriors are looking at a few SF names, but would not be disappointed if Jamison was their starting 3. With Jamisoin at the 3, it could force rookie Udonis Haslem to start at the PF spot. Haslem has some scoring, but is more known for his defense and rebounding. Haslem could be a nice surprise, but the Warriors would prefer to bring Haslem along slowly. Pau Gasol will fill a big hole this upcoming season. He didn't see much time last year due to his rawness. With one season under his belt, loom for Gasol to breakout and become a big threat out West. The PG spot is in good hands. Shawnta Rodgers was a surprising pickup by the Warriors. Rodgers is signed to a good deal, and his still young. Look for Rodgers to be the PG of the future unless a better option comes along. Manu Ginobili is a scoring threat and many teams have expressed interest in him. With Michael Redd behind Ginobili, most would think Many would be expandable. GM Williams says otherwise. Williams loves the play of Manu and sees him to be the scorer of the team for years to come.
The Warriors need to fill their roster out with quality talent in order to compete out West. Only time will tell if they can fulfill those needs.
