What other team in the history has added the number one pick and added Michael Jordan in the same offseason? The Utah Jazz added both number one pick Yao Ming and the old Michael Jordan to a team that has former third picks Kenyon Martin and Tony Parker.
The Houston Rockets landed superstar Vince Carter in what is the coup of the offseason. Carter like most other stars do in Canada bolted the Toronto Raptors to come to Houston. The Rockets now have quite the young team with Wagner, Okur and Swift and Carter to lead them.
The Boston Celtics kept Paul Pierce in Beantown and now are a point guard away from being an interesting team. The front court of Haywood and Wallace are quite solid, Paul Pierce is Paul Pierce and Caron Butler is quite the interesting rookie. Speedy Claxton has decent handles, but his anemic offensive game really hurts that team.
Donyell Marshall entered last year in a contract year and made sure that he didn't end up like Bubbles from The Wire. Donyell Marshall reupped with the Blazers on a four year contract that will pay him ten million a year. Also reupping with the Blazers is Sam I am Cassell on a one year deal for ten million. These two coming back will probably ensure that the Blazers don't hand the Wolves a top ten pick.
Some solid MLE signings include Mo Taylor, Kelvin Cato, Dana Barros, Robert Horry and Jerome James. All of these players bring a certain element of the game that will help their respective teams. Taylor is a low post scorer, Cato is a defender/rebounder, Barros is a good floor general, Horry is clutch and Jerome is a big big man.
Rick Fox and Steve Smith headline what is left in free agency, both will probably see a nice payday as some teams struck out in free agency thus far. Rick Fox is a bonafide twenty point scorer and Smith is an excellent third option on a good team.
