Wow many more picks to review. Even though the make fireworks were on the first day, I think there were some pretty solid players from Nene at the start of the day to Borchard later in the day, who I think was a real steal. Grades are based on talent taken at that position in the draft and needs of the team.
8 Dallas Mavericks (from Knicks) - Nene Hilario PF 6'11'' 260 20 C+ C- D+ B- B- A
With Nene and Boozer the Mavericks have couped quite a nice front line. Those two could be pillars for a long time to come. Nene is already a nice defensive rebounding big man, but should develop to a nice all around center or power forward.
A
9 Detroit Pistons - Tayshaun Prince SF 6'9'' 215 22 C+ B- C B C A for a team that is shopping wing players because of an over abundance, this was an interesting pick. For the record the Clippers were looking at Prince if Griffen was gone. A very solid small forward.
B+ lower because there were other players who better fit needs
10 Minnesota Timberwolves - Kwame Brown PF 6'11'' 243 20 C+ D+ D+ C+ B- A I think a lot of teams shied away from him because of his IRL NBA career. With the right coaching and development this could be a very good player in this league. The only thing that I found interesting is a team deep in young big men went this direction. They could have used a guard like Murray or Salmons or Dunleavy.
B
11 Phoenix Suns - Mike Dunleavy SF 6'9'' 221 22 C+ B- C B- C B The Timberwolves wold have done well to take him. I think Dunleavy was a steal at this position and could develop into a star in this league. He already has better than average offensive skills. With Anderson and Rider getting older he is also a very nice fit on this team.
A+
12 Clippers via Atlanta Hawks - Flip Murray SG 6'4'' 190 23 C+ B C+ B- C B
Without looking at the merits of the trade Murray has the potential to be a nice scoring guard. He should be able to play either pg or sg. The Clippers needed a guard to either start or be part of a three guard rotation at both guard positions.
A
13 Washington Wizards - John Salmons SG 6'7'' 210 23 C+ B- C B- C B Close to a clone to Murray except taller, not quite as good at outside shooting and slightly lesser at ball handling. Washington needed a guard and this I think was the best one left on the board.
A
14 Orlando Magic (From Trailblazers) - Joel Przybilla C 7'1'' 242 23 C+ D F+ B+ B- C I am a Trailblazer fain IRL and Joel is one of my favorite players. He is not flashy, but is a reliable workhorse of a center. This version looks like he has the makings of that type of player. The Magic could have used a guard, but there are lot a lot left on the board so taking Joel was understandable.
B+
15 Golden State Warriors - Udonis Haslem PF 6'8'' 260 21 B- C- D+ B- B- B Very nice player. Not the defender of Joel, but a better scorer. This player could develop into a nice scoring option with defense and rebounding. Rumor is the Warriors are planning on moving Gasol over to C and starting Haslem at pf.
A
16 Charlotte Hornets - Nenad Krstic C 6'11'' 214 19 C C C- C+ C+ A
This pick was obviously based on potential. Krstic has a lot of potential but is really green and will be playing in Europe. A gamble pick. This is a young team who is building all around so in that way it makes sense.
B-
17 Miami Heat (from Bulls) - Luis Scola PF 6'8'' 229 22 C+ C C- B C+ B
Scola plays decent defense and could develop a scoring touch. At this place in the draft a nice pick. The Heat needed another big man so the pick made sense.
B+
18 San Antonio Spurs (from Cavaliers) - Drew Gooden PF 6'10'' 230 21 C+ C- D+ B- B B I think Gooden is a better pick than Scola or Krstic. He could develop into a nice all around forward. Gooden should fit nicely into the rotation.
A
19 Sacramento Kings - Curtis Borchardt C 7'0'' 245 22 C+ C C- B B+ C Borchard is a player the Clippers would like to have traded into the draft to get. His rebounding ability should serve the kings well. The Kings needed a big man that could be in the rotation with Divac and Webber.
A+
20 Toronto Raptors - Matt Barnes SF 6'8'' 225 22 B- C+ C B- C B
A steal at this spot. Barnes was by far the best wing player left on the board and has potential to make an impact with some defense and offense. The Raptors really could have used a big man more than a small forward.
B-
21 San Antonio Spurs - Roger Mason SG 6'5'' 199 22 C B+ C C+ C- B Nice outside shooter although in this league it seems that players need some inside shooting to make the outside shooting affective. Good player for this place...WTG auto pick. Player fit the team.
C+ couldnt see giving higher for an auto pick
