Carlos Boozer PF 6'9 280 Duke Jr. 21 B- C C- C+ B A
A back-to-the basket banger with soft touch. Can even step out to shoot the 10-12 ft jumper and pretty reliable from the FT line. Not a great shot blocker but an average post-defender. He put on some weight but hopefully he can retain that weight if he increases muscle/lessens on fat. Average athletically. Great rebounder.
Nene Hilario PF 6'11 260 Brazil 20 C+ C- D+ B- B- A
Explosive and runs the floor well. Has a 7’4” wingspan. Pretty raw and struggles with a jumpshot. Foul-prone as well. Good athlete. Solid defender. Needs time to develop though.
Kwame Brown PF 6'11 243 Florida Fr. 20 C+ D+ D+ C+ B- A
Big question is how did he improve after one year at Florida? Well his ratings appear the same as last year (at least letter-wise), but he has improved his post-defense and has worked at getting stronger. Still very raw at 20 yrs old and has A LOT to learn. Solid post moves, can shoot inside and out, and is a good rebounder. Still boom-or-bust for this kid.
Eddie Griffin PF 6'10 222 Seton Hall So. 20 C+ C+ D+ B+ B A
Great shotblocker and tremendous athlete. Has long arms to grab boards and swat shots. Can play inside and out…back-to-the-basket as well as face up and even shoots some 3s once in a while. Not overly quick but has some explosiveness.
Drew Gooden PF 6'10 230 Kansas Jr. 21 C+ C- D+ B- B B
Versatile player who can run the floor well. Can put the ball on the floor with no problem. Makes big shots and plays solid defense. Good rebounder. Shown he can be a leader. Needs to get stronger and be more consistent with his mid-range jumper, which is developing.
Luis Scola PF 6'8 229 Argentina 22 C+ C C- B C+ B
A low-post bruiser. He has the strength to bang in the paint and the athleticism to play in the league. Scola has great hands in the post and a pretty refined back to the basket game. A great passer out of the post. Can run the floor. Height may be a concern (he’s really like 6’7”). Not quick enough to be a SF and doesn’t have the shooting consistency to hang around the perimeter. He’s still young, although he has had much international experience already.
Udonis Haslem PF 6'8" 260 Florida Sr. 21 B- C- D+ B- B- B
May be undersized but is a good low-post scorer and banger down low. At Florida he worked on his perimeter game. Plays good defense, though not a tremendous shot-blocker.
Darius Songaila PF 6'10 250 Wake Forest Sr. 24 C+ C+ D+ C+ B- C
Songalia is an intense competitor who uses his strength around the basket. Can rebound and has a nice touch with his face-up game.
Marcus Haislip PF 6'10 230 Tennessee Jr. 22 B- D+ C- B- C B
Positives: Haislip is rangy, can block shots and can be a pest on the offensive backboard. He's got plenty of upside on his offensive game but wasn't able to fully develop it under two different coaches at Tennessee. Scouts aren't sure just how good an offensive talent he can be in the Pros. They don't doubt Haislip's defensive skills, but they want to know why he has never been a consistent scorer. If he can shake this rep then he's got a great chance to move up in the draft.
Ryan Humphrey PF 6'8 235 Notre Dame Sr. 23 C+ C- D+ C+ C+ C
Runs the floor extremely well. Can finish and score in the middle of the lane. His rebounding improved as a senior and he's proven that he could get better over the course of his career: Humphrey is still a talent, but can he score in the Pros as well as he did at times in college? That answer isn't clear.
Reggie Evans PF 6'8" 245 Iowa State So. 22 C+ D D+ C A- C
Evans is undersized, but makes up for it with relentless energy. He's a big-time rebounder, especially on the offensive glass, where he makes a living off of put backs. Evans is strong and athletic.
DeAngelo Collins PF 6'10 230 Ingelwood HS 22 C+ D+ C- C B A
Collins' size is what Pro scouts notice; as a high school student he already had a pro's body. Collins, who averaged 28 points and 18 rebounds in his career, was the first prep player to declare for the draft.
Lonny Baxter PF 6'8 260 Maryland Sr. 23 C+ C- D+ B- C+ B
Baxter is a load in the paint. He doesn't have great height for the Pros, but he's got a pro body and knows how to use it. He's a good leaper and explosive. Baxter is also a big-time competitor.
Ousmane Cisse PF 6'8 252 Louisville Fr. 20 C+ D C- B- C+ B
After one year at Louisville, Cisse has pretty much gone under the radar. Still a very athletic prospect who has good leaping ability. However, I doubt he dominates like he did in HS. Needs to extend his range. His overall offensive game is still really raw, and if he isn’t throwing down a monster dunk, he isn’t really impressing that many people. But being that he is so young, scouts aren’t ruling out his potential to develop in the future.
Federico Kammerichs PF 6'10 226 Argentina 22 C+ C+ C- C+ C+ B
Captured the attention of Pros scouts with his performance at the World Basketball Championship for Young Men played in Japan in August 2001. Averaged 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists for third place Argentina. His rebound average was in the top 10 for the competition. He can score inside and out and grabs a fair share of rebounds. He will be playing overseas, however, so maybe you can retain his rights.
Alton Ford PF 6'9 275 Houston So. 21 C+ D+ C- C+ C B
Ford has great size and good skills for the power forward position; he knows how to use his bulk to score and get rebounds. He came on late in the season, which might have prompted his decision to try his luck in the draft. His defensive work was inconsistent. Has stepped out to shoot the 3 occasionally, but is more of a PF than a SF. Poor FT shooter. Very raw, was average as a college player so there is much work to be done, but has a lot of room to develop.
Robert Archibald PF 6'11 250 Illinois Sr. 22 B- C D C+ C C
Has the low-post skills to score around the basket and has decent range. He's physical for a European and he doesn't mind getting around the basket for boards. He's not a bad defender, either. He knows the game and is still a sponge trying to absorb new aspects to his game. Quickness can be an issue for Archibald, but he could be a spot player and be successful. He relished his reserve role for Illinois. Archibald intrigues a number of Pro teams in the second round. He could be a find and a player who lasts.
Sam Clancy PF 6'7 240 USC Sr. 22 C+ C- D+ B- C+ C
Extremely strong, and has an Pro body. Very strong low-post moves, great with his back to the basket. Has the ability to step away from the basket and sink the 18-foot jumper. A solid rebounder, very tough, and has great leadership skills. If Clancy were two inches taller, we'd be talking lottery pick. He doesn't have the shooting range or the ball-handling skills to play small forward and doesn't have the explosiveness or leaping ability to compensate for his lack of height at power forward.
Chris Owens PF 6'7 245 Texas Sr. 23 C+ D D+ C+ C+ C
When he's healthy, Owens is one of the hardest workers in the draft. He's as fit as any player in the draft and as tough as anyone. He works the offensive glass as if it were his last minute playing ball. Owens' offensive game improved over the summer and he had legit first-round talent prior to the season. The torn ACL suffered in December means Owens is a question mark for next season. If he can show that his recovery is coming along at the right pace then he could be selected in the second round.
Peter Fehse PF 7'0 201 Germany 19 C C+ D C C+ C
A member of the German Junior National Team and played for Germany during the 2000 European Championship qualifying round and at the 2000 Albert Schweitzer tournament in Mannheim. A big man with a nice shooting touch…people have compared him to a Dirk Nowitzki-lite. From many scouts’ standards, it’s looking more like a Dirk 3.0 than anywhere near a Dirk 2.0. He still needs to get stronger (a measly 201 lb) and he’s not very athletic. But he’s only 19, you never know.
Chris Burgess PF 6'11 240 Utah Sr. 23 C+ D+ D+ C+ B- C
Burgess missed most of his senior season with a foot injury, but was having a good year until then. He's a good rebounder and runs well. Was shooting 66 percent from the field before his injury.
Jason Capel SF 6'8 220 North Carolina Sr. 22 C+ B- C- C+ C+ C
Capel didn't quite live up to his high school billing, but he became a versatile player who could score, wasn't afraid to rebound and could pass. He averaged 15 points and nine rebounds for a poor North Carolina team. Can make three-pointers.
Corsley Edwards PF 6'9 276 Central Connecticut State Sr. 23 C+ C D C+ B- D
A banger who can also shoot the 8-10 ft jumper. Gets a lot of rebounds. Strong player but his impact in SSBL is unknown.
Kei Madison SF 6'9 210 Okaloosa-Walton Sr. 23 C+ C+ C+ C C+ D
The well-traveled Madison committed or signed at one time or another with Indiana, Alabama and Mississippi State. He didn't play for any one of them, but Pros scouts still found him in junior college because he's a big-time scorer. He averaged just 12.1 points for a balanced juco team, but also accounted for an impressive 10.8 rebounds per game.
Aaron McGhee PF 6'8 240 Oklahoma Sr. 23 C+ C D+ B- C D
Works his tail off and helped Oklahoma earn a spot in the Final Four. He finds away to get to the basket and score. He can rebound and gets fouled often. He simply won’t be denied around the basket. McGhee needs to prove that his size doesn't matter. His position is more of a power forward in college, but he might have to play more small forward because of his size at the next level. Can he make the 3-pointer or a deeper jumper? The answer is probably no, and he needs to show he can push his game further from the basket. He has shown on occasion his shooting ability, however.
Kelly Wise PF 6'10 217 Memphis Sr. 22 C+ D C- B C D
Good defender. He's also quick, agile, runs well and fairly athletic. He has a great scoring touch and isn't afraid to aggressively seeks his shot. He lacks size and strength, though, and must get into the weight room to survive in the Pros.
