- If you draft a foreign player who remains overseas, you "own his rights" but the player will not show up on your roster until his contract with his current team is up.
- His FBB-generated four-or-two-year rookie contract begins the year the player finally comes over to the SSBL.
Example: Twolves drafted Kirilenko in 1999, he stayed in Russia for two years, and came to the U.S. in 2001 as a rookie freak-of-nature who is now a star for the powerhouse Twolves.
- If a player remains overseas for two or more seasons, you have the option of negotiating a buyout with the foreign club to pay his current team to bring him over ($500 from your bank), or "renouncing his rights" by negotiating with the commish (details below)
Renouncing a Player's rights:Don't like how you're player isn't progressing the way you would have liked? You may renounce a player's rights if he stays overseas for two or more seasons. When a prospect is renounced, - The renouned player is sent into the FA pool
- Your team is entitled to pay his salary that he would have earned on your team (counts against your salary for the year you renounce).
- Example: Let's say I renounce Mario Kasun right now. He's not on my roster right now, but he WOULD HAVE made $1,640,461 if he were on my roster this year. That amount counts against my salary cap as a "cut player"
- You must pay a $250 renouncing fee (why? you basically got to see his ratings for x amount of seasons without affecting your cap)
The following foreign players have been drafted by SSBL teams, but are remaining overseas under contract with their former ball clubs. Albert Miralles PF 6'11'' 240 22 C+ C- D+ B- C+ C (Undrafted) Playing 2 seasons with Vertical Vision Cantu (05, 06)

Edited and changed the way I’m going to do this. From now on, instead of the foreign player earning $1 to stay on your roster, he just won’t show up on your roster until the year he comes over. You can keep tabs of him and his ratings in the foreign prospects thread that I will pin in the main draft section.

That sounds like a good idea. Can the GM decide to keep a player overseas or is it already pre-determined?
