In our last article , we explored the possibilities of who the Golden State Warriors would pick in the SSBL draft . Now , we have the results of their picks - one in the first round (5th pick ) and their second round pick .
Many were thinking the Warriors would go with either a point guard or a big man with their pick . Most insiders said that the Warriors had a depth chart that had two players at the top of their list . One was eventual pick Manu Ginobili and the other was Ron Artest . Between the two , most fans , players and even draft experts were shocked at the fact that this was the leaders of the list . Many experts expected Andrei Kirilenko , a small forward from Russia, would be the consensus pick . All that changed however , when the Russian was selected with the 2nd overall pick in the draft . The Warriors selected Manu Ginobili with their pick in the draft in the first round .

Artest was also on the Warriors radars but wasn't chosen .
Ginobili comes to the Warriors with the ability to play right away . Manu can score and even has a great knack for finding the open man with lightning and precise type passing . Ginobilli also has an ability to draw fouls on the opposing players . Some call this "flopping " , while others say it is just "smart " play . Ginobilli should team up greatly with small forward Antawn Jamison and help to shoulder some of the scoring load . " I am happy to be here to showcase my talents and hope I can be a great piece to the Warriors quest for a championship in SSBL , " said Ginobilli after donning a Warriors cap and photo op with Co -Commisioners Ray and Dave of SSBL .
With their second round pick , the selections were slim , but the Warriors selected point guard Milt Palacio . Palacio has a great offensive game but lacks the defensive intensity of most SSBL guards in the league . He can definitely score a ton and light it up quickly which could be a huge plus for the Warriors . Palacio will be a nice change of pace and could also see some time at the 2 guard during the season .

Both picks will help the Warriors and also strengthen them . The 2guard will be solid as 4 players will vie for the position in John Starks , Tony Delk , Manu Ginobilli and possibly Milt Palacios . Expect to see Ginobilli as the starter followed by Starks and maybe even Palacios .
