Everyone knows you need to spend money to win games in professional sports. But are you getting the best "bang" for your buck? Is your team earning their money? Do you have a team that is outplaying their current deals? The purpose of this scale is to rate how efficient your team is based on how much money you've shelled out this season. History shows (see Lakers, Yankees) that the more money you spend, the more you're supposed to win, right? Well, check here and the "Player Efficiency" thread to see if your team is playing up to par.
Theory:
Every $1,000,000 a team is over the salary cap should produce 1/2 WINS over .500
Equally, every $1,000,000 a team is under the salary cap should produce 2 LOSSES over .500
Formula:
Expected Win Total as per Salary Amount:
(Amount over cap/-2,000,000) + 41 = Total Expected Wins as per Salary Amount
Projected Win Total:
Win% x 82 = Projected Wins
Team Efficiency = Total Expected Wins as per Salary Amount - Projected Wins
Conclusion: The higher the positive number, the lower the team efficiency. The closer to 0 the number, the more expected the efficiency. A negative number says the team is playing better than expected as per team salary.
Expected Loss Total as per Salary Amount:
(Amount under cap/500,000) + 41 = Total Expected Losses as per Salary Amount
Projected Loss Total:
(1.00-Win%) x 82 = Projected Losses
Team Efficiency = Total Expected Losses as per Salary Amount - Projected Losses
Conclusion: The higher the positive number, the higher the team efficiency. The closer to 0 the number, the more expected the efficiency. A negative number says the team is playing worse than expected as per team salary.
